This is awesome news! I think a pedestrian walkway in Negril would make a huge difference! Yay.

'the Negril project will see the construction of bicycle tracks and pedestrian pathways along the Norman Manley Boulevard'
i like the idea of riding a bike in negril but the traffic is just too scary, i hope this project is realized. this will make it safer for everyone.

No worries, the West End is next on the agenda - this is from an article in December before the construction had started:
"These plans, he continued, in essence call for the putting in of physical infrastructure, namely sidewalks with jogging and cycle tracks adequately lit and landscaped which would in turn encourage tourists to use and enjoy. As a result he reasoned, the value of properties along the same strip of sidewalk would increase dramatically as it would be well used by visitors. The strip in question to be constructed runs from the round-about in the centre of town leading out along what is popularly known as “beach road” for some 4km to Couples Swept Away Negril.
It is also planned that once the sidewalks are completed, then attention will be turned to the west end in a bid to similarly construct sidewalks there as well."

i certainly would spend more time in the west end if the walk was easier.
