Trip Number 5 Winding Down - quick ? for recent travelers...
We're in the home stretch now, usually painful but 2 weeks has been a good length. Not as rushed as past trips. Thinking ahead to customs, I could use a refresher. When we traveled last year, I had a severe kidney infection and I barely remember anything but squeezing out tears on the way home and shivering on the plane. We didn't get any alcohol to bring home with the condition I was in and it has been a few years since the trip prior so I feel like a newbie on this. Remind me when we get to Dallas (our one and only layover on the way home), what will the customs procedure be? Do we collect bags? If we bring home alcohol, is it carryon leaving MBJ and then check in Dallas or ??? Thanks in advance all!

exactly- carry on then check it in the states. If you dont check it in your bag... more tears and shivering will occur when you attempt to carry it on.

Hahaha! Any consensus on how much of what can be brought back. Gonna need some overproof and coffee creamer. ;)

You carry it on, then in Dallas you will have to put it into your luggage before you go through customs.
I believe two bottles per person.
Re: Trip Number 5 Winding Down - quick ? for recent travelers...
My understanding is no overproof on airplanes. The amount you bring back is based on liters not bottles but I have never had anyone look at the volume of the bottles. Two bottles each won't be questioned. The real fun comes when you need to quickly move them to the checked bags and packing them well enough that you don't have one break. I always pack a folded beach towel right in the middle of the checked bags to slip the carry-on boxes into.

I have brought overproof back in my suitcase before, never heard that you could'nt,may depend on the airline.
