I am headed to Negril next week and will be staying at the cliffs. Where is a good place to access the 7 mile beach when I want a little sand in my toes? I will be traveling with a 9 year old as well. Appreciate some suggestions.

Most places would welcome you if you spend a little money. A couple of drinks, snack, lunch etc. Though it hurts me to say it, Margaritaville is a good place with a kid.
Respect,
Yup, to Andy & Pam's comments...and...Sunbeach near Coco La Palm is popular or Boardwalk further down toward the AI's.
mi concur on SunBeach as that is where I and a lot of people go to hangout for the day...
it's got bathrooms and a huge bar etc......plus plenty of chairs and lounges.......
their Red Stripe Beer prices are the lowest on the beach and the drinks are awesome....
plus Firefly is right next door too......which has great prices on Red Stripe Beers.......
Firefly serves up some great cheap eats even for Breakfast........and Lunch
tuff area to beat and be great for you and the 9 year old.....
For Real use to make that area a threesome to hang at but dem under new management now.......
Cool Runnings, Marko
the area of Erroll's,NBCC, and Travelers will all welcome you, if you place some orders with them.....as with most Beach Places, not sure about the AI's, neva stayed at one..lol.
Margaritaville. Showers, washrooms, lockers, loungers, LIFEGUARDS. No requirement to spend anything, unless you want to.
The Margaritaville bus will pick you up around 10 or 11 at your cliff or beach resort and drop you off around 4:30 if you want to go that route.
Be sure to tip the driver. If your resort doesn't offer free beach transfers; have them call Margaritaville for you to be picked up.
No it's not very Jamaican; but it employs lots of Jamaican people and it's kid friendly.
