A very deceiving photo of the beach. Take a look during the day..the beach is packed in like sardines with hardly any real sand left to enjoy. Not sure what the purpose of this post is actually although one has to wonder.....
Ed,
There is absolutely nothing deceiving in the photo - anyone in Negril knows this picture to be exactly what was there yesterday. I have no desire to deceive anyone - with the internet today it would be pointless anyways. But Negril.com does always want the truth to be told.
Okay, so lets imagine all those loungers in the picture filled with people, how does that possibly change the position of the Caribbean Sea? You can see the high water mark clearly, and even at that point there is still plenty of beach left.
Don't you think it is more realistic that your take on Legends that the "beach is flooded" is based on a date or dates where the shifting sands of any beach had repositioned the sand at Legends during your vacation stay? I had lived here daily for some 20 years now and have a near daily experience with the beach in Negril. Your opinion of the beach at Legends is your opinion, but to use your own terms, is deceiving.
That is how the sea works, how nature works. The term "shifting sands" is very common and applies in the case of any beach. There could be no flooding of the beach whether the loungers were filled with people or not.
But it is interesting to note that you mention the loungers are filled during the day. Maybe that is because people enjoy the beach there at Legends...
no...people are sucked in by the promotion of the place via travel agents and cheap price......you get what you pay for and legends and samsara have the same reputation by those in the know......
Ed,
While you always you get what you pay for, I think most people can think for themselves and by the time they are old enough and have the money to travel to destinations like Negril, they become wise of the ways of promotions. A travel agent can only do so much, but for those looking for a bargain in Negril, I think the words I posted on the Negril Today page speaks for itself:
"Legends has been known over the years for its value, being one of the most affordable places to stay on the Negril Beach. Being the sister property to Samsara on the Cliffs, you get to use the facilities at both properties when you stay at either hotel - increasing the deal that much more! So when choosing a property to stay in Negril, Legends and Samsara should always be in the running for those looking for the best bargain!"
Ed ... brother ... chillax ...everyting Irie
Part of the whole Negril vibe..
is the fact that there are plenty of properties that fit everybody's pocketbook & lifestyle
If your travel agent is pushing a certain property on you .. it's time to find a new travel agent
If you have an axe to grind with Legends or Samsara ..
take it to tripadvisor

Its's good for me (good for me)
That's all I care about
at slightly stoopid.....first post deleted...why I wonder..I have every right to express my viewpoint as everyone else.....I may be a minority in those willing to post anything negative about anything in Negril, but believe me I am right on this one....as another board member posted me...
Ed,
You are right about the beach, I'm surprised the sea isn't up to the dining area.
Why people pay to be packed in like sardines on that little strip is beyond me.
On this forum you can't even get away with saying "Legends beach is small".
Everything is paradise in Negril.
No problem Ed ...
I guess my point was that all it takes is a simple visit to tripadvisor
& it will usually point newbies & lurkers
in the right direction ..
thats all .. knowledge is the key to having a wonderful vacation vs. one we regret
Thank you slightly...the concern that some of us have is that the management of the board seems to never accept honest viewpoints that are not in agreement with everything being good......there are many issues with legends....in another thread Rob states that legends has never lost beach area....this is simply not true...I do not like using the word "lie" but it is just not true and I have definitive documentation that, in fact, legends used to have a neon sign on the beach that they had to take down due to beach erosion....I go way back and know of what I speak.....just think it is important for all to have honest information, the good, the bad and the ugly
