A coworker wants to try Negril for the first time and is considering one of these 2 properties. Has anyone stayed at either of them to advise which one would be better for a first timer? Both are in good locations on the beach and look good from the beachside but don't know any more that that as to hotel conditions, rooms, food, pool, etc.

Never stayed at Merrill's, but saw the place. Hands down go to Coco! Been there a few times and it's fabulous. You won't be disappointed. Best location on the beach and very centrally located.

I've stayed at Coco (last year) and Merrills 3 (when it was Negril Relax but run by Merrill's) a couple of years ago.
Hands down, Coco!! Merrills is all inclusive if that is what they want - but Coco has a much better property and with the
frig in the rooms you can probably eat and drink cheaper. Also, a better part of the beach in my opinion.
I don't think that you can even compare the two. Coco for sure.
