Jamaica to Italy - travel info for Jamaica citizens - Help!?
Hey, are there any peeps out there who know the travel requirements for Jamaican citizens going to Italy? I understand there needs to be an invitation by an Italian citizen to the Jamaican citizen, but what other visa requirements are there?
Most importantly, if the travel plans bring the Jamaican citizen through the U.S. on the way to Italy, I have heard there is something called a transit visa required, but what country issues that? Is it Jamaica, Italy, or the U.S.?
Any help would be appreciated!
Bless up.

if i were you,
i'd seek-out an Immigration Attorney (or some-such person) for guidance & advice & direction & assistance.
i wouldn't be getting info in this forum.
from time to time,
i listen to Power106FM radio from Jamaica, where they'd have an immigration expert answering phone calls.
There too-too many what-if's and other fine-print thing-ys associated with this topic.
additionally,
you may want to contact all-three embassies (i.e., US, Italy, Jamaica) for guidance.
go to the experts.

Incredibly wise advice smith744! Very wise indeed. Rules change in the blink of an eye, and if you have the wrong information, you're going right back home at your expense! Go to people whose job is to know all these things. An immigration lawyer may cost a few bucks now, but will save you a world of grief en route!

Thanks, but this is only for a visit, not a long term or permanent stay there...
An immigration lawyer feels like overkill.

If you are in the uSA...contact one of the consulates there.

Re: Jamaica to Italy - travel info for Jamaica citizens - Help!?
Sorry - I'll clarify.
I'm a US citizen, but the person I am inquiring for is a Jamaican citizen who lives in Jamaica.
The invite from an Italian citizen is already taken care of, but I'm trying to understand the visa requirements other than that, and if the flight that gets booked from Jamaica to Italy happens to pass through the US, is there any involvement in US customs? I wouldn't think so, but I am not sure - especially after hearing there is something called a transit visa. And I don't understand what country issues the transit visa...
