Packing Surprises!!!!
Well I am getting my stuff together to commence the final pack on Friday and what do I find? 5500JMD in one of my water proof containers!! Whoo Hoo!! You have to like those pleasant surprises!
What's the best/worst thing you found when you went to pack for your next reach after the last reach?

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
Wasn't packing to go - it was unpacking there. Found a pair of fuzzy uber warm fleece socks in my bag. Why on earth did my husband pack my warm socks for Jamaica? Turned out, it wasn't him ... it was one of our cats who carts those socks around everywhere. He was on the bed when we were packing and put them in.
My cats are strange!

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
Betcha nobody ever found a bottle of rum they had forgotten they brought back! :)
-
Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
My cats are naked! :)
That's pretty funny though! :)

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
Crusher .... how long you down there for? We're coming on the 01 Feb. You still gonna be there?
Not sure I read the weather report right, but I am pretty sure that I saw that Negril is A WHOLE LOT warmer than Regina SK!
Happy trails to you!

Hey CC. We arrive on the 24th and would love to enjoy a couple of coldies with you. We're staying at White Sands. Our first trip so I don't know where it is to your proximity.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
I have a 500 dollar bill in my wallet. I figure that's a couple of beer at the airport or a tip for the driver (plus a few dollars).
I've started packing and fine that even rolling up shirts and shorts; I don't have that much room in my carry-on.
Gotta re-think that.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
I found a pound of Blue Mountain coffee in the side pocket. It actually was a bit stale but I still saw it as a little Ja miracle.

We are on the south end of the beach staying at the Negril Beach Club Condos. Its actually not too far from where you guys are. I would say your probably a KM up the beach road. We don't leave until late in the afternoon on the 25th as we have a late flight back to TO. If you are in fairly early on the 24th I am sure beers can happen! :)

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
Oh and the wife found 10150JMD in her stuff. We are going to be setup! :)
Mi Doc is bringing our cooler bag full of beers and such so I am not sure what we will need the money for on the first night. Maybe some Best of the West on the way to the resort? Yeah....that sounds about right! Soon come! :)

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
I always bring back about $5000 for the first day next time, its never worth as much when you get back because of depreciation! lol

JMD is definitely not a good long term hold. USD and EUR look similar.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
Sweet! I Love finding money, this makes me think I may want to make sure I have some cash left over for the next trip.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
I had an unpacking surprise two years ago. Got home, opened a shirt pocket and voila.......a great big submarine sandwich. YIKES!
That could have been a disaster. What if mustard or mayonnaise had leaked in the suite case? :)
Lesson learned.

Plane arrives in MoBay at 1:55. Taking Rocky's private taxi from there so hoping to be in Negril by 4 at the latest. By the time we unpack and pick up supplies I'm thinking anytime around 5:30 would be good. If you're around at that time name a good/or your favourite bar.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
My surprise isn't an item it's the left over remnants of sand from the beach :) in the bottom of my suitcase. Always brings a smile to my face.

I am seriously curious as to how one puts a sub sandwich in a shirt pocket in the first place??? And not know it's there? A purse, maybe (dear God, Jimmy Hoffa is probably in one of my purses ...) But a shirt pocket? There has to be a lot of Red Stripe and Rum Punch behind this story! :)

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
I have never been to Montreal but its always been a dream of mine. Maybe I will skip my Vegas trip for my birthday this year in June and check out Montreal! Either that or Halifax....I might be the biggest Alexander Keith's fan in Canada! :)

Damn M&G, would have loved to chill with you over a few beers. Unfortunately we fly out on Feb 01. We only booked 8 days in Negril, our mistake! We've become so attached to this board. The stories from the boardies, and trip reports from the likes of gerryg and Kahuna3 totally consumes us every day when we're reading the threads. Next year will definitely be a two week trip, probably last week in Jan and first week in Feb. Would love to watch the Superbowl on a beach there.

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
LOL....not everyone knows the code! :P
I didn't comment on it but knew exactly what he was talking about LOL!!
Its the kind of sub sandwich that could get you a cavity search at Customs! Ha!!

Re: Packing Surprises!!!!
A few years ago I bought a purse in Ja and tossed it in the suitcase to bring home. Six months later I pulled out the suitcases to pack for a return tip and opened the purse to use for the trip down. The crafts person must have stashed some local crop in the purse and left quite a few crumbs in it. I was very handful that my bags weren't searched. No way would anyone believe that it was not ours.
I carefully check everything I buy before packing now.

OK. I get the Boardie Bimbo of the Week award this week for that one! Never pass up a chance to comment, Crusher. Especially with me .... I just walk into them sometimes. I had never heard that expression (Clearly, Maggie!). But I can imagine you lot howling at the question and big grins on your faces! I will know for next time, and be careful!

Whew M&G, after that I think you could use a special brownie.

It was a very large shirt pocket. :) And really it was an actual cold cut submarine with japalanos. LOL
