Day 1... Guess I'll be working backwards here..I'm sure I'll warm up to this trip reporting..I tend to write like I talk..subjects may be changed mid stream and if you see typing errors I hope you guys can let that go cause the IPad does funny things sometimes...
Day started off with an 8 am flight. Well of course it only left at 8:20 cause as you Northerners there is de-icing which happens.. I had the pleasure of the middle seat and it really ended up being a pleasure. I had a gorgeous woman Daphne sitting beside me..she was born Jamaican and has lived in Winnipeg for 44 years. I mention the years cause she told me was 70! She attributed her youthful appearance to the coconut and all that organic eating from in the Island when she was young. We pretty much talked for 5 hours..we had a lot of similarities because we both grew up in the country. We talked about all the foods I wanted to try and thanks to my research and this board I'm not completely stupid about what JA has to offer :). Did I say she was good looking? Man I wish I had her legs! Lol.. She ended up sharing her lunch with me and I told her she was my wife on the plane...oh yea...back up...in line waiting to go through customs I was looking after all of my husbands and my papers (I am the organizer) and I said to him "I wish I had a wife!" This guy in the line bursts out laughing. I'm like I'm serious! Lol...so back to Daphne. She is single. We talked about how husbands like to be taken care of and I told her what I'd said earlier...then said she was my wife for the plane ride. I did take a photo of her which didn't do her justice and I won't post cause I didn't ask permission. We exchanged phone numbers and I hope to call her when I get back..
Anyway..arrived at MB and wasn't full at all. I of course picked the slowest line..I always do..girl in front of me said she does so we split apart and this time she was in the faster line. No issues there. Walk past the gauntlet of taxis etc...reminds me of the shark out at Puerto Vallarta airport. We are travelling with another couple and there happened to be another couple we know that have gone to Negril for years on our flight and they had their regular driver pick us up. Norbert. Or Shorty as some people call him. I'm calling him Norbert. I got to sit in the front as I'm the unofficial planned of GT's (Good Times). We stopped at the Mega for some goods. We are all starting to get a little cranky by now after being up since 4am.. Stop at the service station for beer and we all get a lot happier..I don't drink beer but I'm in JA so what the h*ll..off we go..
Attachment 33676
I proceed to chat Norbert's ear asking a gazillion questions and telling him about what I've learnt..he showed us where our friends house was that they built close to Hopewell. All along the way he pointed out little details..now about this time I know I'm hungry for a patty..so. Next stop Juicys!

I ordered chicken, callaloo, and vegetarian. Not all just for me! I liked the chicken the best. It had some spice to it. Moving along...
We get to a the Rondel and it looks like..first impression...good! We get our room and it's the only one without a balcony :(. I've decided I'll get over it..besides..a lot of the balconies are so close together you could kiss your neighbour! Normally I unpack everything immediately but I'm thirsty so to the bar we go. We meet our friends, that are already here and Donovan is tending bar. Had my first dirty banana...check! Walked into the ocean...check! We have a few drinks and decide to head to the Italian Cage for pizza. kK is our waitress and she's nice. Service starred off painfully slow but did get better...pizza was good

Starting to run out of steam at about this time and start the walk back...pass a group of people having a party and the music is pumped and I can't resist shaking my booty..lol...my husband is like..you couldn't resist could you?..and. I...I couldn't :) headed to the bar for a night cap and off to sleep! Beds are great!
I'm sure as the weeks go on these reports will get shorter...I am chatty and will try to stick to the points. Now I gotta unpack and get outta this room!
Oh boy! You are off to a great start.
Thanks for posting, this is good stuff :)
small world . . . daphne and i move in the same social circle . . .
sorry, no edit button . . . good thing you left yesterday . . . another snow storm this morning . . .
It all sounds great so far . . .
How exciting! That 4:00 a.m. wakeup about kills me..but its worth it once I get there!
Sounds like your trip is going great! I'll be at Rondel Sat hanging with my BF Robin and her hubby. Woooo Hooo! See ya on beach :)
YAY!!! Im stoked for you and can't wait to hear more. My guess (and my hope) is that in the next couple days you will forget all about the on-site trip reporting and just finish when you get home. TOO much fun to be had while you're there.
But of course, I think I speak for everyone when I say we SO appreciate it. ;)
as far as trip reports go, chatty is a good thing....
Day 2 - beach day today. My shade tent worked great. My blue hat is pretty distinctive...maybe I better wear the beige one tomorrow.. Canoe tonight!
Hehe, YEP.
FULLJOY!!
Chris:
Thank you for your trip report if you think you want a baloney maybe you could ask for a upgrade...have fun great report
baloney?! Lol..they say they are fully booked.. It's ok..our friends have one.
It's starting to happen...relax mode kicking in...day 2. Met all kinds of vendors in the beach today...Flex is my juice guy, Corrine is my veggie and lime lady, Layton..Layton Palmer as he said.. Breads... Let's see.. Richard who likes to chat up the ladies...Carl in Security who loves his job sitting on the beach.. Think that's it for now...
Canoe club for dinner...met Rob and Lisa and Month and his wife (didn't right down your name but I'll just ask you again).. Was nice to meet them. Brought Lisa a taste of home (Spitz) Prairie people will know that know... We sat in the corner close to the steel band and they were great. Talked to Gracin and Pebo in the band. Super nice. We had to wait around two hours for our food..patience, patience...do I danced :).
When we got back my husband and I checked out Jungle but unfortunately I got sick do we had to leave..no..not too much booze..just and old ailment reading it's ugly head...all good..
Oh yes...wanted to post this...party's at Juices in Lucy Attachment 33733
Patties in the beach...500 .. Just saying...
Patties on the beach should be $150J except Niahs. Regular patties, $150J
Chris55...was fabulous finally meeting you!
You definitely had the relaxed Negril vibe going on & thank you so much for my spitz++...lol! Perfect!
The vibe continues..just danced my a** off at The Rondel...you know what I love?? The locals get my love of the feeling.. No need to explain.. Trip report to be continued
Glad you're having a great time, you're such a cutie. How's your husband liking Negril so far?
Happy you are having fun. Have a great day.
Two hours to get your food at Canoe?? Say it ain't so. My friends and I waited nearly three hours on New Years Eve 2012. It was faster this past December but the dish I picked was by far my worst meal on the trip. I do not understand the raves this place get as the only thing I have enjoyed there are their French fries.
hence why I think I will never eat there again, but I do see they have a new chef. It is a good spot to have a cold beer during the day.
Concur totally. I never wanted to say anything bad about Canoe because they're so board-friendly, but I have had at least two of worst dining experiences ever there -- a considerable distinction considering I take meals so seriously in Negril.
I've also been harassed by local higglers inside the walls of the place.
Day 3 - Valentines day..never been a big celebratory of Valentines day but we are in the tropics and it just seems more fun...what am I saying!?!?! It IS more fun! Beach time as per usual....starting to get mixed up..tent is set up. It's been a big hit! I honestly don't know what I would do without it..outside the gate here there isn't much shade at all. I've had so many people coming up and asking me about it. Being in the shade means I don't get as tired as the rest of my crew either :).

Today met Newfie Girl and her husband..I tell you..being on this board is great! I tell everyone about it. Hard when you try and remember what you did a couple of days ago ..chatted with Richard. He's right beside us and sells tours. He is very sweet.
Pub Crawl time! Lambert was a little late in picking us up and man! Was I hot! For some reason I am not adjusting to the humidity. Probably cause we have the AC on in the room but without a balcony it and big doors to open it just gets so hot in there. Anyway...where was I...the six of us hop on the bus. Dailey subdued crowd. We were all wearing red attire..shirts..ties..sunglasses ..stickers...stuff..loading pics takes too long right now...will download later. Attachment 33765
Stop 1 Gracie's. Former Justice of the Peace..had some delicious Salt fish fritters and good rum
To be continued..gotta go grab some breakfast at Montana's
.
Awesome tent. Is that non-smoking?
Nice start, more please!!
Enjoy,
VVHT
Good read so far, more please,I would like to read something warm before I attempt to move 30-40 cm of snow out of my yard
