Teddy is closing The Hideaway!!
:( Teddy is a really talented chef...I think maybe a lot of folks didn't stop and take time to go behind the gates to enjoy his menu.
Quite frankly, I will miss The Hideaway...had some really great meals there.
Yes...great chef and i love his style!! he has worked hard and was doing quite well there...lots of changes at castle...Teddy is not leaving by his own choice...after 15 years coming to castle i think it is time for me to move on...was there recently and many guests were feeling this way
Yes it is sad that things are changing at the castle. Still love the place but the vibe is changing and not because of Petrona or Teddy. I too have been staying there for 15 years but after the last stay we are back to Treehouse as our preference. Referring to the lottery thread, I have always wanted to buy the place and keep it irie.
awe...we wanted to stop by next week
Us too! We have stayed there at least 4 times. We LOVE the castle! I will say however we have chosen this trip to stay someplace with a bit more- Mostly because its a group of 5 and we really wanted a bar/pool to hang out at without having to leave the property.
Doesnt sound like the change in vibe is a good one. How so? Can any one clue me in on the changes? A future stay wasnt out of the question...
I was there in late March, I didn't notice anything drastically different. The one thing that I didn't like was the new security guard, Santa is still there, but there's another guy I didn't recognize who didn't have a very good attitiude. Other than that, everything was fine. Didn't eat at Teddy's this time, which I now feel bad about.
Say what??!
We are not "cliff" people but stayed a few nights at Home Sweet Home and were thankful to have Teddy next door for breakfast and dinner. Definitely one of the best dinners that trip. Would love to hear where he ends up. If anyone converses with him Coco La Palm is building a new "indoor" restaurant. What a wonderful addition that would be! One can only hope. And then again we would probably never leave the hotel if Teddy was cooking.
Teddy is going to work on a cruise ship. Susan told him he could no longer socialize with guests in the yard and that people don't come there to make friends. Also after working and living there for almost 20 years, in staff quarters, Susan has told Petrona she has to live somewhere else.
Teddy and Petrona told us this 2 weeks ago face to face.
Such a shame!! Petrona has always been the backbone of the place to me. And quite frankly, I DO go on holiday not only to have fun but make new friends and socialize with the folks that work at the place. Relaxing at a resort and enjoying the company of the staff is all part of the picture to me. Still miss Fuzzy too! :)
I completely agree yetta!
I've only been there once for the food (Orbra held a birthday event there) and the food while excellent was pricey. Something does not seem right if the food guy that has a following is booted and pretty much everything online about the place has his name or Petrona attached to it when it comes to positive stuff. Maybe someone should ask this Susan lady (owner???) to come here and give her side of the story.
Well, darn...I was planning to try Teddy's food on my trip this summer, because all of you have had such great things to say about his cooking skills.
WHAT??????
smdh.
Good for Teddy getting another job. Petrona should too. WTH! Things change.
Ive always loved the castle, teddy and petrona. all three helped introduce this beautiful island and its vibes to me and wifey. I wish all three the best during this time of change
... and I'm sure there's a lot more to this onion than what's already been peeled off
Had one great dinner from Teddy. On Ras suggestion went to castle (low low season) and ordered the recommended lobster Thermidor. Teddy was very apologetic and said he had no lobster. He took our order and sat us at a table down by the sea wall. 10 minutes later he came back with a plate of the best curried shrimp and proudly proclaimed that he had found a lobster! I didn't ask where.....the Castle losesAttachment 36255
So, when exactly is Teddy leaving?
Posters who 'know' these folks should post their well wishes and nothing else.
We do not know the circumstances and I'm sure the owner of the Castle didn't just rise one morning and decide to make changes.
Bummer. This is the classic surfers, "you should have been here this morning."
We heard this rumor when we stayed at the castle this Feb. There is more to the story that I was told. It had nothing to do with Teddy fraternizing with customers, again, from what I was told. At this point all I have is mostly second hand information but the changes appear to be related to a personal matter and BCC policies that the personal matter violated. There's nothing real scandalous or backhanded with Susan's decisions involving this matter nor with the personal matter itself. Again, if the information I was given is correct.
I will miss Teddy but I'm also excited about what may come next.
There is usually more to a story. 3 sides- Yours, mine and the truth. We didnt even know they served food/Teddy till our 3rd visit.
We really do love the castle and if it were not for our large group probably be staying there. I would love to see a bar..that grassy area would make a nice pool! Something to make it a little easier to spend an entire day there with out leaving the property. Love to head out and about but a few days each stay to just hang is nice! That said I hope the changes are positive but minimal!
Is this the same "Susan" from Catcha Falling Star?
Teddy is an awesome chef...but, just think of all the money he could make as a P. Diddy (puff daddy/Sean Combs) impersonator on a cruise ship or in Vegas!Attachment 36270
Best wishes to Teddy on his new adventure!
I stayed at BCC for many years & then changes came ~ Fuzzy was no a part of the BCC family, this is when I decided to find other accommodations. Changes happen, this is inevitable. I hope Teddy & Pet enjoy new adventures and I also hope that Susan has great success with her new changes.
In all respect Frank, it seems like people are trying to figure out if they are going to stay/eat/support the place....sucks to create a rumor-ish mill but as I said before the owner could come on here. Correct that "could" to should.....looks like some lost business so far in this thread.....might put the place in my price range...good thing...carry on....
I will always have a soft spot for the BCC-when i started going back to Jam.it was my go to place-had some incredible times there and that includes with Teddy and Petrona..Change is hard and uncomfortable but many times it brings better things to come...and thats what i hope for for everyone..esp teddy and Petrona.
As far as how, why, when etc...none of my business...
Some may want the owner of the Castle to come here and explain her actions.
Really?
What if these people were released WITH cause? Do you really want that plastered all over the internet to explain to you, a customer, what happened?
I think not.
I do know they're supposed to be re-doing the steps down to the water in the near future, along with some other updates that weren't specified to me.
Did I read incorrectly or is Petrona being asked to merely live off property??? I did not get the impression that she was being fired from her job. If I am wrong correct me. AS for Teddy... I stayed in a HUMONGOUS villa owned by a brother and sister in Ironshores in Mobay. I just outright asked the wife, how in the hell did you get the money to build a place this big and her answer was that the husband worked on cruise ships and they saved up. Don't block someone else's blessing because of YOUR lobster thermador dreams.
