Can I do a trip report too??
Thanks! 12 timer Negril, and first time trip report on this awesome website! Cheers to our founding father Rob! Anyhoo, here we go. {now, this is back from Dec.'14, so bear with me}. Drove to Minneapolis Sunday Dec. 7th, and had a 5:10 departure on Monday morning. Off we go, no weather problems, and then to Charlotte. It was a quick layover, that's nice. Then 2. 5 hours to Mobay. Went thru customs quick, and Luke from Kenny's was there waiting for us. We rode with a couple from Miami, older couple, but full of life experiences to share with us. We arrived at NTH at 3:00, and met up with our friends from there like Jermaine, Valdeen and of course Gail. We also ran into a nice lady we had met from a previous stay at NTH. A retired teacher, Sandra from Texas. So, it was cool to talk with her again. We had a great room with a fridge, stove, microwave, toaster oven, etc. We arrived at a good time, so the wifey could quick head to the beach to lay out and work on the tan. I went to look for fargoman, he was staying at CCLP, and lo and behold there he was at the bar!! Good happy hour there. For supper , we went to Best in The West for the jerk chicken. A good way to start out the trip! Then went to the grocery store for some supplies. The Midway Mart. Then time for bed. Tuesday. I always try to wake up at sunrise, to head down to the sea with a cup of coffee. It is my favorite time of day. Quiet and a good time to reflect and be thankful we are able to come here to paradise. Deb likes to sleep in, and that's o.k. The first thing I see out in the ocean is a HUGE oil tanker! I have a camcorder, so it's cool to zoom in on those big ships. The breakfast at NTH is great. They do a good job of changing the menu from day to day, so that is nice. Of course there is the usual omelettes, fruit, Callaloo, porridge, grits. but then there sometimes broadbeans in a sauce, curried chicken, brown stewed chicken, bacon, chocolate chip waffles, Am I making you hungry? After breakfast, time to hit the beach, hung out with 3 younger people from Canada. Toronto I believe. We took a long walk to the right up to Cosmos and back. The beach in front of CSA is HUGE! After we got back, we bought some Patties from Norman. Usually he doesn't get down this far, but it's early December and not that busy. But during the high season, he doesn't get very far and sell out. We ran into Irman, we talked for a bit. I really like Irmine. He doesn't ask me for anything, he like ice cold Red Stripe, and I'm happy to help him out with that, cause I kinda feel we have a music kinship. He knows the music, but not so much the artist names. I've been a music junkie for 43 years, plus am a mobile D.J. It's my passion. Not really into fishin' {not quite the son my Dad had hoped for} I think I'm an alright guy. That's a cool song by Todd Snider by the way. Then we ran into the world famous "Skip"!!! He's a hoot! and is a good friend, he's gonna come down to our place this summer on his Harley. Then we lined up a night out with fargoman and BJ. We went to The Blue Mahoe @ the Spa retreat. This is the resort where Kitty {Sarah} 101 years old. Her son owns the Retreat. They are from Canada. There was a group of kids there partying for their wedding the next day. It was fun. Time to head back to NTH and call it a day. If you're o.k. with my trip report, I'll continue some other time. I gotta get ready for work, I have a gig tonight doing a Mardi Gras party at a small bar called Hattie Shack's in Alberta Mn. Gotta get the beads ready!!!! Yippee! Yamon' down in the Treme......

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
I think I can crank out one more day of my meanderings. Sorry JitterBug, yeah Negril Tree House. So, here we are to Wednesday. Up early again. Very windy right away in the morning. Shoot. But, the sun is very hot hot hot! Talked with Sonja again, she's from Fort Worth. Valdeen and Stacy are our servers this morning. Might have breakfast with fargoman, as he is leaving tomorrow. We made reservations with Lenbert for the one love bus today. It'll be nice to see him again. I've been bringing him music for the last 4 years, so, if you don't like the tunes.....whatever. Just smile mon' go wit da flow. Lenbert loves Abba and dancing queen. Sorry, Lenbert. I called Garnett last night, Garnett and his family, we've know them for 7 years now. they live by Likkle London. Great guy, works in Bloody Bay. They are going to stay with us one night @NTH. We've always went to their place, but this reach we decided to have them stay with us. Today's breakfast is super. Went downtown to get more supplies etc. Beer at China man store, change money at cambio etc. It's fun to walk around downtown. Then we just hung out on da beach til time for Lenbert to pick us up. Then he was here! He does a pretty good job of being on time. Plus, he does two groups of people all in the same trip. I wouldn't be able to keep it straight. I gave Lenbert a Santa Clause hat, the usual killer music cds, plus a Jamaican flag for his son. There were probably 40 people on board. It was full! The bus is fun, in the fact that when you get on, there are some people who have never done the pub crawl {and maybe don't know what they are getting themselves into??} And of course , nobody knows each other, and most everybody is quiet and shy, depending on how much they've had to drink at this point in the day. So, were off to see the wizard..???? no no no. We went to the usual bars. No Seastar this trip. But, we ent to a place place the lighthouse, where I've never been. Just Natural, it's cool to walk around in the woods there. It was fun, and the trip back...Nobody was quiet and shy anymore!! That's the cool thing about this trip, at the start, like I mentioned nobody knows anybody, but on the return trip, it's like we are best buds now. Deb and I had supper at NTH, and we retired early. Seems to happen that way after the One Love bus pub crawl... Tomorrow is another day. You still with me? Hope so, we've went too far now. Bye. oh, by the way Garnett and his family will be staying with us Friday night.

There were actually 48 people on board, I was on the opposite trip and counted how many got off at Jus Natural.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Good Morning Sunshine! I'm back. Sure had a lot of fun at my Mardi Gras party last night! The girls didn't even have to do anything to get beads! jimnkim, yeah I have lots of pictures, haven't mastered putting them on here tough. I try to be descriptive so you can get a pretty good picture in your mind. Here we are to Thursday Dec. 11. I've been doing good getting up early, let my beauty queen sleep in. After my beach walk with a walkin' coffee, we had breakfast with Jessie. The different dish today was ham & bacon egg/bake. Some people might call it quiche? Real men eat quiche ...right? Anyhoo, I had 3 pieces. Don't worry, sounds like I'm a pig, but there was lots of it.
Today I wanted to go to Bloody Bay to find Garnett. Off I go, and had a disagreement with the taxi driver, and I got took. Dang it. I knew I was right, but in the end, he was off and there I was left standing. Gotta get smarter in some situations. I can be gullible, I guess. So, I cooled off and finally made it to Office of Nature. Same bartender was there, Tamika. Gave some cucumber seeds to Cockie {Phil} He loves cucumbers! Plus then he always has of his "guys" give me a ride back to NTH. I found Garnett, and we made sure the details were set for him, Camesha, Colleen and Carla to stay with us Friday night. They just need to get a taxi from Likkle London. We said our goodbyes, and I continued walking in Bloody Bay.
Then there was a musician that sounded like a guy I remembered from a couple years ago there. I went up to him, looked him in the eyes, and lo and behold it was Kevin Sterling! I recognized his singing and guitar playing, but I didn't recognize him, because he was growing dreads! The time a few years ago, we had good talks. I think he remembered me. The thing about Kevin that is so amazing, he is very adept at many styles of music. R+B, oldies, BOB, etc. {I will be getting a huge surprise Saturday night at Seastar!} So, I left Kevin to continue his job of entertaining along the beach in Bloody Bay. I did tell him, I would bring him some music in Feb.
Went back to NTH, to join Deb laying on the beach. Norman came by, bought some veggie patties and coco bread. Man, that coco bread is so delicious! Hung out with those three young people from Canada. Didn't catch their names, but they seem very nice and hip! They are really getting into the Negril laid back vibe mon' Evryting Irie! We enjoy our talks with Bj also. We went for a beach walk to the left. Had a run in with a very disrespectful guy. Gosh I got mad, but I didn't let it ruin my day. Thanks Deb for helping diffuse that situation. Dang it...got get smarter!!!
We went to Sunnyside bar. Odie was the bartender. He is a cool guy, we joked about fargoman. We could do that right?? He had to go home to the great white nort. Not Canada, but close. Myrna's grocery store is closed man! Geez sure miss that nice likkle store. Then we said goodbye to Odie, and went back to CCLP for happy hour and dirty bananas and hummingbirds. They are addicting. We met up with a couple from Florida. The lady designed the interior or something like that for the new additions to Coco. Man, could she talk! Maybe she liked the hummingbirds way too much!
Then we went back to NTH, ordered fish fingers & fries to eat on our porch or veranda?? It's a porch in Minnesota. Time to hit the hay! It's 8:30. Tomorrow Garnett's family comes to stay with us.
Later gator...after awhile crocodile!

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
OK. one more day quickly {grin} Here we are Friday Dec. 12. Up early, as usual, went right to the breakfast area for a walking coffee. To the beach, went to the right for a short ways, and ran into Irman. Very nice man. Had a nice talk, I sipped on my coffee, while he sipped on a Red Stripe. Up to the breakfast. Sumting new today...plaintain porridge. What I like to do is break up the fried dumplings into likkle pieces and mix it up in the porridge then sprinkle a packet of brown sugar on top. Wow! delicious. Of course the usual omellettes & waffles, and a speciality today was the zuccini bread. Stacy was our server, and then we went to the beach to wait for Garnett and his family to arrive. They showed up and we got them checked in, and settled into their room. Gail, put them ina suite here at NTh. Those suites are spectacular. Garnette and the family are really amazed with this experience! We went to the beach, and Carla {3 years old} had never been to the coean before, and was kinda scared at first, as the sea was was rough. She gradually got used to it, and eventually played in the water with her Dad. It nwas fun to watch. Pardon my grammer people! That night NTH had a manager's reception with a big jug of sangria wine and snacks. We indulged and it turned into a party, everybody was was smiling and very happy!!! I'm going to leave you on this "happy" point as some folks are wantiung to use the computer here in the business office at the Comfort Inn in Bloomington, Mn I'll be back to continue. Thanks for hanging with me. I have to finish this!!!!!

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Rocknrollfarmer, great reporting. The walking coffee and early morning walks on the beach sounds perfect. The food descriptions well done and yes making me hungry but worth it just for me have that vicarious experience, like I was there. You seem to know how to get the most out of your days and nights in Beautiful Negril. Thank you for taking the time to share with us not so lucky these days.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Good Morning!! It's 5:30 a.m. here in Bloomington,Mn Guess what? we fly out this morning at 9:10, so I wanted to finish Friday Dec.12. Back to the managers party at NTH, Colleen {17} was really enjoying herself, and I took the opportunity to grab the microphone, and I introduced her to the staff & other guests. Colleen was the 2014 Westmoreland Parish teen queen! There were 33 other participants. After that, we went for a beach walk with the family. Bj went along with us. We had our flashlights, and we walked down to Coco to see all the Christmas lights. They do a really good job of decorating. Next time your in Negril in December, be sure and check them out as well. But first, we stopped at Chances to order a couple pizzas, and then we would pick them on the walk back. At Coco, we took alot of pictures, and danced at Coco. Ok back to Chances, pizza was fair. As we were eating, staff there sprang up and rushed out to the road, so, Garnett, Colleen and I went out there too. There was an accident on the road across from Coco and the Catholic church. Here the pizza delivery had smashed his pickup into a backhoe that was doing some work on the road. Now, keep in mind it's very dark outside, and when we arrived, there were already alot of people gathered. The pickup was in bad shape! Totalled. I think the backhoe won. It appeared that the driver was ok..luckily. Thank goodness! One more part of this accident, his pickup veered of the backhoe and smashed into a car, and pushed the car into the Catholic church sign. The car was totalled and the sign was destroyed as well. In the end, I guess no one was seriously hurt. Here's a coincidence, we had just been standing in the same spot on the road there, only about 15 minutes earlier! Wheww!! So, we went back to Chances and took the remaining pizza back with us to NTH. We went to bed, and so did Camesha, Colleen and Carla. Garnett stayed up and partied with their neighbors... it was those 3 kids from Canada!!! Oh, funny. A time to to give thanks and praise mon' Hey, we gotta get the bags ready for the shuttle now, and go to the airport. I'll try to finish this up when we are in JA. Is that o.k? Good luck BostonBob, It looks like from the pictures on the tv, that what's the point of even shoveling anymore??? When all that snow melts... then you're going to have other issues with the flooding. Been there done that {being from Minnesota} Not this year though. Just 15 below zero all the time. Later folks. see you on da beach. Cool Runnings and walk good. RnR Farmer

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Greetings! I'm back.....The Mrs. and I are in Montego Bay, for a few nights because we couldn't get into NTH right away, so this is our first time in Mobay. We are at the Gloucestershire Hotel on the Hip Stripe. I mean strip. For some reason, we've had alot of stripes as in Red Stripes! Our hotel here is very nice. I recommend it. Let me knock out one more day for ya, I see a few people have been reading my ramblings, so I'll continue. Now back to Saturday Dec. 13. I was up at 7:30, and find out that Garnett and Camesha were up at 5:00 a.m.! The two them went for a beach walk. Ahhh, how romantic! Garnett, said he was up til 2:00 partying with those Cananda kids. Then we all had breakfast together. Carla {3} is really warming up to other guests here, and is a very happy likkle girl. Today the cook had brown stewed chicken {great}, and the other usual items. The skies are very overcast today, so we decided to take everybody down to Times Square for shopping. Debbie bought Colleen {17} a swimsuit, and there was not much to it. Camesha picked out a shirt & pants. Garnett and I & Carla just walked around. Garnett and I don't give a hoot about shopping. I held Carla , and pointed out every t-shirt with Bob Marley on it, and made her repeat his name. This younger generation is too far removed from BOB, and needs to be aware of his importance and greatness. Then we all walked back on the beach.
Garnett runs into guys he knows, mostly that he went to school with or from other resorts. Then we just hung out on da beach. Bought coco bread and patties from Norman, and Norman gave us all free juices. He's a great guy. We went swimming, and Carla finally got used to the water and really enjoyed herself.
Colleen, the typical teenager hardly took her eyes off her tablet {which we had bought her a year ago}. We took alot of pictures. Irman came by, I gave him a ice cold Stripe, and he sang "Imagine" by John Lennon for us. It was a great day. Then it was time for the Morris family to go back home to Likkle London. Hugs all around.
I made reservations with Okema to go to Seastar for the that nights show and delicious buffet. Henry picked us up. He remembered us, as did Barbara, Clarol & Captain Kirk. Chris, the owner was not there , so we all had free beer!!! Just kidding Chris! Sasyana was there. Luddy Samms sang a song, and introduced the next performer. and it was KEVIN STERLING!
He has the opening gig at Seastar! Good for him. He deserves it. Afterwards, I talked with him and we had our picture together {which I'll give him on this trip} .
Skip, the old hippie was there, he's a hoot! Just oozes FUN! Sasyana was great as usual. She got me up on stage for the silly human tricks portion of the show. We had about 5 of those strong rum punches. The Seastar drummers put us in a trance.
Then it was time to go back to NTH with Henry, and Skip was on board and had evrybody laughing. Then we crashed. It was a great day! Should go to church in the morning??
Do you want more reporting? Let me know. One Love.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Good Morning Sunshine! {grin} Now, I'm just sayin' that if you're ever in Mobay on the hip strip, go out to eat at the Pork Pit. No frills, but good reasonable prices. OK, back to my ramblings. SUNDAY Dec. 14: Up at 7:15. Windy again today and overcast. Breakfast today, we have grits, cornmeal porridge, callaloo, ackee & saltfish and finally have some bananas!
Laid on the beach alot. Talked with BJ, and there is a young girl here from Austrailia who is a professional photographer . She said she would email pictures to us that she took of the Morris family. We went for a beach walk to the right, then took a break and finished off the leftover pizza in the toaster oven which is in our room. Ah, pizza...even when it's bad, it's good! My mother taught me well, that you don't throw anything away, especially food. Then we headed down the beach to the left. Stopped at Sunnyside bar, Odie was the bartender.
He's a funny guy, and good bartender. Good qualities to have...take note some of you bartenders back home!!!! We sat with people from Canada {imagine that!].
Then we ran into "Skip" and his buddies for that day. He's a card, that Skip he is. Then we went to Drifter's bar, bought some Stripes from Big John at the opening to Drifter's first.
Rob & Lisa are there, perched at the bar. This place is cool, good vibes, good singers. Went back to NTH, and ordered chicken fingers. Went to bed, called it a day. More to come.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
O.K. Ladies & Gentlemen, boys n girls...let's move on to Monday Dec. 15: up @6:30. I went for a short beachwalk to the right, with a walkin' coffee. Thanks to fargoman for the idea of those big styrofoam cups. He's so smart! We had breakfast with two fun girls from Florida. Suzie & Suzanne. Today's breakfast include curried chicken. It was delicious. We went to the beach, I walked out from the shore to go snorkeling. Didn't see anything. We swam for awhile, and it's raining. But that's ok cause it's kinda cool to be in the ocean when it's hot out, with a nice cool rain coming down. Yamon'. Karaoke tonight at Seastar. I called Okema, and she asked me if I would help out to emcee, as Chris was gone, and she didn't think Sasonya was gonna be there. The rest of the afternoon we hung out with the 2 chicks from Florida, it was still kinda raining. Henry picked us at 5:00 and we arrived at Seastar, grabbed a walkin' rum punch, and walked over to LTU pub for a bite to eat. We walked into Rick's for a bit, and then walked back to Seastar, and some more of those killer rum punches. Sasonya was there, so I didn't have to embarrass Deb {or myself!}. Sasonya and I did a couple songs together, you know "summer nights" etc. and I was kinda taken a back, as she had never sang "I got you babe" by Sonny & Cher??? The two girls from Florida came and sat with us, and more drinks....We had alot of fun and laughs. They are a hoot!
Luddy Samms was there and he sang a few songs. He's the son of one of the original Drifters from the 50's and 60's. Time to go back, Suzie Q and Suzanne came along, some taxi guy named Courtney took us, and then Courtney and the girls went to a concert at Bourbon Beach for Morgan Heritage. I made sure Courtney would be responsible for the girls. Kevin Sterling was part of one of the opening bands. Lee "Scratch" Perry was there with his entourage. The girls said they had a greeat time, and said they got back to NTH at about 4:00 a.m.! How come we never seem to make it past 10:30??? Another Negril fantastic day in the record books! One love.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
Goooood Morning Jamaica! Let's move quickly to Tuesday Dec. 16: Up at 7:00, walked down to the beach, helped the guys pick up branches, that they cut down as Gail thought they were blocking too much of the view to the sea. It was finally a calm morning, and BJ sensed that the time was was just right for SUP {stand up paddleboard} So, here goes...fat farmer guy attempting SUP for the first time! It's kinda hard, takes practice. It's somewhat similar to being in a canoe. First time I fell in, sure enough swallowed some water. You know what thats like...right? I finally did accomplish the feat, after falling in two more times. There, another item crossed off on my bucket list. Thanks BJ. The I sat with two ladies, who are friends with BJ, and the one lady lived only 40 miles from where I live! Small world. Then we went for breakfast with Suzie & Suzanne. They were all excited, as they had a religious experience at the concert at Bourbon Beach, plus had a blast at Seastar karaoke with us. Today's breakfast had BACON! Plus I really like the cornmeal porridge. No definite plans for today. Tomorrow though I am going with Gail to the Negril farmer's market. So, today we just decided to hang out on the beach or whatever {isn't that the beauty of this place? To quote from some famous author "Is this place FOR REAL"?} Later, we went for a beach walk to the left. We stopped and looked at the craft stuff @ WAVZ park . Bought 2 fish carvings for our daughter and son in law, who live in Fargo. You betcha! Then we walked way past Bourbon Beach, then back, and stopped for a couple ice cold Red Stripes at Big John's cooler, by Drifter's Bar. Then had some beers & dirty bananas @ Boat bar. The band was practicing. Good vibes mon' Kept walking, I bought a beef pattie from Neville. The, oh geez, for crying out loud, here comes Skip!. Then we stopped at Sunnyside, and took a picture with Odie to give to fargoman, plus we talked a likkle smack about fargoman. So, it's about 5;00 or was it six? Don't matter, remember we are on Jamaica time! We went to the grocery store for some supplies, then stopped at Cool Spot for supper . I had the curried conch and Deb had the fried chicken. It was good. Then we crashed about 8:30. Kinda showing our age a likkle bit, arent we? Almost done folks, only two days to go. Later. Today we go to Negril. Fargoman and his buds, better have not drank all the Red Stripes in Negril.

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
What day is it? What day is it? It's hump day!! Wednesday Dec. 17: Up early to go to the Negril Farmer's market with Gail, Jessie & the nice lady from NYC. Wow! This is quite an experience. We were there for about two hours. Gail loaded up a pickup truck and the back of a van with produce. I bought some bananas, a gizzada, a grater cake, and a slice of sweet potato pudding. Thanks Gail for taking me.
Back to the beach. Very hot today! Last full day, so, need to work on getting rid of the beer etc. Breakfast today was brown stew chicken & chocolate waffles etc. We took pictures of us withe the Santa hats we brought along, and left there for Allen, the movie star , singing chef etc. S + S wore the hats as well. We had really good sun, we walked to the right and bought a couple of those turtles {the ones with the bouncing heads} Gifts for friends back home. Then we walked to White Sands. Then it started to rain. Said goodbye to Irman @ Sun Beach. The rain kept coming down, that's good business for the beach bars! Made it back to NTH, and hung out with a couple from....guess where???.... Canada!! The S+ S girls went on the One Love bus! They were all smiley and such. Got a call from back home, Deb's mom had a slight heart attack back home, rushed her to Abbott in Mpls. {She turned out o.k.} Later, I got hungry, and wanted one more serving of chicken jerk...??? jerk chicken. Thanks rum punch! I had my slice of sweet potato pudding for desert.. It was delicious! Time to hit the hay! Last report coming... later. It's short I promise!

Re: Can I do a trip report too??
ok ok ok. I'm gonna quick knock this one out. Almost time to get picked up by Kenny's to Negril. Thursday Dec. 18: Up at 7:00. The S+S girls are going to try paddleboarding with BJ.
Breakfast this morning is Ham & bacon eggbake. Had a nice talk with Jessica, the almond oil lady. She's nice. We leave here at 12:00 noon. It's a beautiful day ! Went swimming for the last time, and then time to go. Our bus ride was nice. "Unique" was our driver, I gave him a Bob Marley
Legend" cd. That disc is almost perfectly timed, so when you get to the airport, it is finished. I left the cd with him. Flight for Charlotte leaves at 3:25, then off to Mpls. Then we'll just stay in Mpls. for the night as the 4 hour drive to our home is just too much at 10:00 p.m. Bye, Hope you enjoyed our trip report! Wow, I finished that up just in time, as our bus should be here at 12:00 noon {or so???} whatever, it's all good. Cool Runnings Walk Good. one love. RnR farmer & my beach queen.
