I wonder if we could convince Jamaica to keep him??
Here's today's cartoon in the Gleaner

I love my president. When in April? He can jack up traffic big time!
Please, not when we're flying in or out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reagan went to Jamaica as did FDR, but I don't think JFK did as President
Just more proof that he's the second coolest pres ever. You're not gonna get cooler than JFK.
April 8-11th. Since pot is legal in DC, I wonder if he'll be bringing some to trade.
I just read a one day visit April 9. We fly in the following morning. It would be cool to see Air Force One in JA. Although I imagine he is flying into Kingston and not MoBay?
This thread makes me wonder about the so-called love some boardies claim to have for Jamaica and the Jamaican people. What is the dislike based on - I wonder. I know I'm living better now than I was before he was president.
How about a little respect for the president of the United States - even if you disagree with certain things.
One love should apply to everything/everyone, not just a couple of weeks on vacation.
Many go on vacation and claimed to be one type of a person and return back to United States and become the same S.O.B. they were before they left.
Amen.
You don't have to agree with him to respect the position!
I'm not sure how you can infer that because someone dislikes our President that he/she has no love or respect for the Jamaican people. That's a stretch at best, and insulting at worst. I personally do NOT like our President, and could detail why, but don't feel thats necessary to illustrate my point. How I feel about the leader of our country in NO WAY reflects how I feel about ANYONE else. I judge people as individuals, not members of a group or based on skin color, as this seemingly implies. ASking how I feel about the color green has nothing to do with my opinions on the color red.....In that same vein, how I feel about Obama has absolutely NOTHING to do IN ANY WAY WHATSOEVER how I feel about the entire Jamaican culture/people. Implying otherwise is just as insulting as the suggestion Jamaica could keep him, or any other comment referring to Obama...ignorance has MANY faces, apparently. While implying we should have love and respect for all, you've managed to insult people yourself. To think that people cannot separate their feeling about one person from their feeling on an entire nation's people isn't giving people any credit whatsoever. Do you honestly believe people, collectively to be THAT ignorant? I don't like Roseanne Barr. Are you going to infer that I hate ALL women from that statement?!? Do you understand how offensive your statement really is? Its an insult to my intelligence that you seemingly believe that because I don't like our current leadership that I must be racist, and therefore cannot respect Jamaican culture. Nothing could be further from the truth, and its a cheap shot to even hint otherwise. Its his politics I don't care for, not his skin color. If you think people's issues with his Presidency are based on color, you're far more part of the problem than I am, IMO.
I think somebody hit a nerve
I just think its incredibly ignorant and short-sighted to imply that one cannot appreciate the Jamaican people while actively disliking Obama. Obama does NOT =Jamaica in any way, shape or form, and its entirely possible to have independent opinions of either. To think or imply otherwise is just silly talk. How can anyone disagree with that?
Throw a rock and_____________
Troublemaker, it appears you and I will never agree on this topic. I said what I said - with no regrets, and you did the same. Let's agree to disagree.
Yes, you said what you said, which to me seemed to imply if you don't like our black president, how could you like Jamaicans who are also black? Nice job turning this into an issue of race which it wasnt until you said something. People are entitled to disagree with the president and even say so in public, it's one of the things that makes the USA great.
It's amazing how one will read into "I wonder".
You need to really look at yourself in the mirror to see where all this vigor is coming from.
The fact that thePresident will be visiting jamaica is a very big deal. Some people just need to make disrespectful little comments every time his name comes up. I definitely don't agree with all of his policies but I think he's a good man and certainly deserves more respect than he gets. It sickens me that Americans talk like they do about him. He won two elections and people still won't accept it.
When multiple people read the same thing in your words, it's I who wonders. I just say WOW at your statement.
Maybe you should explain yourself Instead of just saying that you said what you said, so be it. What else could you be wondering about?
Starting to think you're just a troll trying to stir the pot.
I agree with Troublemaker and HarryS. I don't see any correlation between Barack Obama and the people of Jamaica.
And, by the way - I voted for Obama.
I'm not going to post any further on this thread.
You don't see a correlation for one simple reason....unless you are playing the ever-tired race card, there IS no correlation of ANY kind.
Never in my lifetime has a president been so disrespected as Obama. He is also the first African American president. I don't think it's a coincidence. I don't think it's playing the race card, it's stating the obvious.
well said
Bet if Obama was bringing back jet-skis "Jaherring" would welcome him with open arms ~~
Regardless of how you feel about Obama, good, bad or indifferent, its silly to think you should/have to feel the same way about Jamaica/Jamaicans. I can't understand why this is such a difficult concept to understand :)
Time to get the popcorn! Anyone wanna take bets on how long this thread will get before Rob closes it down?
P.S. (I'm with you Troublemaker_420)
Yes this type of discussion seems to have no place on this web site. We do not come here for president likes or dislikes. Who cares who you like, dislike, respect or disrespect. It is a discussion of politics and like religion and abortion, the end result of related discussion, generally is division of people and people showing deep beliefs that would be better left to themselves.
Really? Enough already, can we just stick to the topic of a US sitting US President visiting Jamaica and stop with all the bickering. Regardless of who it is, it is a big deal of a sitting President to visit. The only 2 I know of were FDR and he was there to scout strategic military sites and Reagan who met with Seaga over his "war on drugs" plan.
