The Jamaican people are very excited to receive Pres. Obama.
The last President to visit was Regan. Before him Kennedy.
Pres. Obama being black makes it even more special.
This is a special 24 hours for Jamaicans ... I feel it too

Oh geez, Cap, don't be opening up a can of worms!
It is cool that he is visiting there and I too am happy for both the Jamaicans and for us in the States that our president is making the trip. Thanks Captain for letting us know. The logistics must be incredible. Too cool.
It's so great when people can come together and look forward to something and get excited about something together!!!
Attachment 41334Attachment 41334Attachment 41334 I saw the President in Boston last week. Very long motorcade.
Sorry too many same shot. My first time adding a pic
That is awesome! But can you imagine flying into MBJ today to start your vacation? OR flying out? Holy Moly id love to hear those stories!
Would be cool to see Airforce One at MBJ.
The Pres. will be arriving at Norman Manley airport in Kingston.
It is the capital .........
Cap
Ah yes that makes sense.
yes that does
Not everyone is happy......http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/...n_jamaica.html
True. Capt, where do you think the pres stays in Kingston? Can't think of any hotels with a presidential room. Maybe the Spanish court or strawberry hill.
LOL, those pics sure look like they're driving on the right hand side of the road.
They drive on the whole road. Everyone else off the road for a bit.
Oh dumb me. I get it..
Ya mean Linston didn't pick him up??? :) He's missing half the fun right there.

I am with Cap on this! Forget the politics! When the leader of a country with the global power and influence of the U.S. visits a small Caribbean island, it's special! Enjoy the moment. I'd be out there waving a flag or 3! He's big celebrity!
I don't know the man, clearly - but he just strikes me as the kind of person who would like to be able to have chill vacay like we all do in Jamaica, and would love to sit anonymously at a webcast at Canoe or 3 Dives and enjoy the time. You know?
Man, if I rented a car in Jamaica, they would clear the roads for me, too - but for totally different reasons! In my case, it would be a matter of national safety for all Jamaicans! :)
I hope he got awesome Jamaican food! And I bet Jerk Chicken will be on the White House menu soon!
Just watched the live feed,of the President shaking hands with everyone..I got the chills....
I am thrilled for Jamaica!
Amazing that President Obama visited the Bob Marley museum--an unscheduled visit. Apparently President Obama has all Bob Marley's records. So cool!Attachment 41335 Taken from a tweet by Tolouse Olorunnipa

I hope he gets to drink an authentic Red Stripe. The Commander in Chief does enjoy a good beer.
He does look happy to be at Bob Marley museum. 🌴🌴✈️✈️
To Cap. SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT! Cap, I meant no DISRESPECT of my post! It's unfortunate you had to use an F bomb! {I feel that was totally directed at me} As, you may recall, I started a post about 3 weeks ago about our President Obama coming to Jamaica, and how I thought this is a BIG deal, and how great it is. As the replies came in, I was sickened by some of the comments, the comments were so hateful, that our founding father Rob had to shut the thread down. Maybe my sarcasm struck a note, but it was based on the thread that I started. I have much respect for the country of Jamaica, and the great people. {13 negril trips in 9 years!!} I have much respect for our President, it's sooo unfortunate that he has had to put up with so much DISRESPECT since he became President. Cap, I am truly fricken {grin} sorry for my post on your thread. Will you forgive me? Todd
Todd,
No problem man. I wasn't too thrilled with the way that thread got twisted. Actually I was referring to what happened on that thread with the F bomb. Didn't want to see that start up again.
Jamaica is my adopted country and I'm proud just like most Jamaicans.

President Obama is a very intelligent man and knows his history (unlike several of the "party presidents" of the past). This trip was excellently timed to coincide with Jamaica's energy crisis having signed on to a Hugo Chavez deal that is backfiring. http://news.yahoo.com/obama-offer-al...045955378.html ; normalizing relations with Cuba during the gathering in Panama for the Seventh Summit of the Americas http://www.summit-americas.org/seventhsummit.htm and discussions with the PNP Government headed by Portia Simpson Miller regarding the Goat Island Project and China's gaining a foothold in the region.
The importance of Bob Marley's music and the history of Jamaica becoming a successfully run country made up mostly of descendants of former slaves living in relative harmony with the relatives of those who enslaved them is not lost on this president.
History will look kindly on his presidency.

very, very cool! thanks for posting the pics!
Trip is already bearing fruit for Jamaica. http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/l...a-meets-portia
This will have a very positive impact on the Jamaican Economy as the cost of Electricity production in Jamaica is high due to PetroCaribe and the Venezuelan deal.
More good news ahead.
