Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
..... Quote "Hey, what do you think of this? We have Hussyband, Weathermon & MiLady, FredStripe, RastaStan and lots more. Maybe I need a new handle other than Fr. Jim! I use Jamaica Jim with friends back in the USA. Can I claim Jimaica? Or JIMaica?" Endquote
I saw this 'buried' within another thread - most wouldn't see it, so I thought I'd post it in a new thread.....

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
I was at a SeaStar Saturday night party that Chris had invited you and a bunch of your boys to following a recent fund raiser. The boys were so excited to be there, they were on their best behavior, and I enjoyed their company. I asked several of the boys if Fr Jim was a good guy, their resounding response was Fr Jim is a REAL good guy! I'm not a Catholic, or familiar with church procedures, but I think we could bypass some "red-tape" and pronounce you Saint James of Negril.

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
hey father jim, patty and I stopped by st anthonys last week when we were in town. appears that they now have a food processor that can handle some of the smaller items so we picked up a large one when shopping in Sav for some home furnishings. Unfortunately we did not have time to drop off before we left so we will drop off this on our next trip along with a bunch of vegitabl seeds for Monday and some composition pads for the children. IT was good to see the ladies at the kitchen again. Please let them know that we were able to pick up the items and hope to drop off next month when we are back.

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
I liked your suggestion of Jimaica.
How about Friar Island? (not Fire Island). Or Island Friar? Friarmon? Gospelmon? Of course, Preachermon. Pepperonimon? Just sayin'

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
Hmmm, "doesalotofgoodforthepeopleofNegilandanallaroundni ceguy" seems a little wordy...
FrRedstripe is too close to another boardie name...
We're both sitting here trying to come up with something, so far I like "Preachermon"

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
I Looove the sound of " Jim-aica" or any spelling more suitable

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
Jimbo thinks Sky Pilot has possibilities. I kind of like Jimbo but its taken. My dad called me that when I was a kid and some folks still do. If I had been elected Pope--hey, hope springs eternal--I would have taken the name Jimbo--Pope Jimbo the First! As I am a Franciscan I should probably take the name Francis. Well, a Jesuit was elected and took Francis anyway! Slim Shadtree has possibilities but Skinny Shadetree is probably better. Friarmon--not bad! Pepperonimon? You must know that I ask folks to stick real honest to God pepperoni (not that turkey stuff) in those school supplies they carry down. Using that reasoning, Beefeatermon has possibilities! St. James of Negril--now I really like that! However, it might be more suited for Cincinnati or Rome, not the Capital of Casual. How about St. Jimbo of Negrilmon? Stay tuned! --Jimaica

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
2nuts4travel, you are correct--too long! FrRedStripe is nice but don't want to infringe on FredStripes name--I love it! I'm thinking!
Sanja, I don't how to tell you to private message me--not too good at this. You can email me at jimbok@franciscan.org.
Rastaron, thanks to you and Patty for stopping by the Kitchen. I'll give the ladies your regards and let them know a gift is coming. They love when you folks fuss over them.
Well, time to get Red Stripe, head for my room and read a while. Good night from....ah, ah, ah...Jimaica (for the moment)!

I agree with Big_frank.
I also like Sky Pilot.
or how about: 7 Mile Saint, or Just Jim (just, as in the adjective: based on or behaving according to what is morally right and fair)
Still agree with Big_frank... :)

For a private message: at the top of the Negril Message Board page is a menu bar. Click on "My Profile" Then, on the left side of that window, click on "Send Private Message". Then, type in the exact username of your recipient in the "Recipient Users" box provided. Then, type the title and your message in the boxes provided. Then click: Send message".

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
"The Preacher"
Gotta use the quotes though, makes it more ominous sounding, and gives a sense of mystery to your whole persona.

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
If St. James of Negril isn't acceptable, I second or third the vote for Padre. As a youngster, Preachers were always called Padre in the western movies. You certainly bestow your (Gods) blessings in the wild west of Jamaica. It just sounds right to me. Supreme respect Fr Jim!
-
Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
I also agree with Big Frank "Father Jim" or any other that you chose would be fine....because you are THE MAN!
-
Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
Let's put two good ones together..........PadreJIMaica, just a thought....

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
How about Fadda? FaddaJIMaica?
-
Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
Jimbo, you are safe. I would never take your name. 2nuts4travel might be on to something. I frequently hear "Fadder, fadder," from adults and kids. Fadder Jimaica has a certain Jamaican ring to it. Well, this has been fun! We will see. Thanks, too, for the various kind words. St. Paul said it already--it ain't me, it's the Spirit working in me--with the blessed help of wonderful other people. Ah, I added about the wonderful other people. St. Paul didn't mention that. By the way, thanks to Weathermon and Mi Lady for the tip in sending a private message. I simply could not recall how to do it. Have a great weekend everyone!

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
Evening Greetings everyone!
This is Fr. Jim's 'counterpart' .... I posted the original message about finding a new boardie name for Fr. Jim. I have just now read all the responses in this thread and I'd like to say that I'm very very very impressed with all the cool ideas for a name :)
So many to choose from... the ultimate decision will be Fr. Jim's, but I'd like to add my two cents.... many like Padre and many like Jimaica - so I'd like to suggest combing the two!
How about Padre Jimaica :)
I've been blessed to have been working closely with Fr. Jim on a few different 'projects' for about a year and a half now, and this has enabled me to get to know this amazing man very well :) I truly believe this name suits him!
Thank you all so much for participating! It's been a lot of fun :)

You are welcome! Don't be concerned about hurricanes. It's a BIG ocean out there and Jamaica is a relatively tiny spec on that ocean. The chances of a hurricane impacting the same time that you are on the Rock are 2 - slim and none. Mi Lady and I have reached many times during hurricane season and have only been affected by one - Sandy last year - and she was on the other side of the island.

Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
I really like Skypilot! You could always go with Frere Jacques (Jacques is actually French for James)
-
Re: Fr. Jim is asking for a new Boardie Name....
At a senior prom at my date's high school the theme was "Affaire de Coeur" and I was introduced as Monsieur Jacques Bok . I never liked the alliteration. More importantly, not many people here speak French! Thanks for the suggestion, though.
Sonja, enjoy the time with your friend--time with friends is a blessing! --Frere Jacques or Fadder Jimaica or Padre Jimbo or Skypilot or Padre Skypilot or .....???
