Re: The Number Five - A Trip Report
I fell behind. Oops. A quick catch up while I'm digesting breakfast. Tuesday began a bit late. We ate breakfast, delicious as always but out of salt fish so had to go with an omelet. It's all good. Back to the room to load up the cooler with Stripes. Spent the next few hours laughing and knocking back Stripes in the pool. SH got water logged and left me to continue pruning/baking. Finally called it quits, only because I ran out of Stripes. It was getting hot and I remembered a post about Rum & Raisin ice cream. Off to Charela we went. It starts raining. A LOT! We are no where near Charela. Don't care. We dance in the rain on the beach. Ok, we didn't dance. It was more of a frolic. Ok, so it wasn't really a frolic. Just more of a light hearted jaunt, laughing and sluicing the rain off our faces every few steps. The drops were huge. We see an abandoned umbrella by a picnic table and claim the spot, cracking up at how drenched we are. The rain lets up a bit, so we're walking again. Charela was finally in site. What a beautiful spot they have! The sweetest lady met us as we came in. I apologized for our dripping and asked if they serve rain weary travelers. She had a good chuckle as she showed us to a table. Moments later she was back with the most absorbent dinner napkins I've ever seen. Ahhhh. Our clothes are still dripping but our skin is dry. And here comes the ice cream. SharkHunter went with the Rum & Raisin. I went with peanut. Couldn't resist. It was amazing! Both of them. Enjoyed the view and beach at Charelas for a bit and then headed home for dry clothes.

Is it just me or does that ice cream look... LOL
Lounged around a bit and then decided it was time to try some pizza. I have avoided pizza here for a long time but after seeing so many on the board rave about it, I decided it was time. Lobster Pizza and a shrimp cocktail at BarBBarn. Wow! Why did I wait so long to try that?!?! I may never be able to eat pizza at home again. Enjoyed a beautiful sunset, a few photos of which have already been posted. After that, the rum started flowing. Details are a little hazy, and probably a bit racy for the board. ;) So ended Tuesday, another day in paradise.

I really wish it would've turned out better. That sucker was fast, but there's a mongoose in this picture. Yep. A mongoose.

Great Pics! is the BARBBarn on the beach? If so what area? we would like to try it next time we are there. We had pizza at Belladonna's and it was really good. My wife thinks it's the best pizza she has had. I think it was the atmosphere etc. that made it good. We will have to hit Charela too it seems for dessert!

Yes it's on the beach. Easily spotted from the road or the beach. Black and red on the building and wall. Going towards West End, you'll pass Merrill's, then Legends and Kuyaba, and then there's BarBBarn. Go to Angela's restaurant upstairs. Good stuff!
Re: The Number Five - A Trip Report
Wednesday morning we slept in a very loooong time. So long that as we were getting ready for breakfast, our phone rang. Miss S was waiting for us. Up we go for our scenic breakfast. No salt fish again. :( omelet it is. It's not long after this the sinuses start for SH. Then the Benadryl. Then the loooong nap. Rained a lot yesterday. Lots of good reading. A mongoose sighting. Lizards everywhere. Loving this rain. It was cool all day. The rain moved out just in time for dinner. We went to Cafe Goa. The waitress rubbed her arms and said it was chilly. We had a good laugh. She had a beautiful singing voice. I still so clearly remember my first visit to Negril 8 years ago. We got in late. Ate dinner. Exhausted. Had a few drinks and went to bed. I woke up very disoriented, just enough light in my room to know I wasn't in Kansas anymore Toto. I try to get my bearings and that's when I hear it. A man outside the room picking up trash and singing. At the top of his lungs and from the bottom of his heart he is singing. I fell in love with Jamaica and her people at that moment and to this day, my heart warms every time I hear someone sing here, even if it's just a line or two.
Back to Cafe Goa. Their curry chicken was fantastic. I'm a big fan or curry and my adopted Indian family back home keeps me stocked up. Cafe Goa was spot on. Got some freshly roasted coffee. Back home, we found K Man and spent the next couple hours playing games with pen and paper. When's the last time you played hangman with actual pen and paper? The K Man is good. Such a smart kid, such a great sense of humor. Glad we could meet him. He'll always be a bright spot in our memories. The rain started again and K Man's mom came and got him - bedtime. I think she's worried he's bothering us although we've told her many time we enjoy his company. I'm even getting a few signs down. So the party went adult only. Rum and cherry juice. Rum and pineapple juice. For all the drinking I don't do at home, I make up for it here. Good rum. Good night.

Re: The Number Five - A Trip Report
Nice report!
Re: sinuses/allergies; if you're still there you might want to check your air conditioning filter and clean it with a bleach solution or white vinegar if necessary.
Re: The Number Five - A Trip Report
Do you know what type of sign language K-Man uses? Is it ASL or another type ( I know it sounds like a dumb question..but different countries have different sign language ie: British is different from American, etc)
