Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
Rum,
The border I'm speaking of is where the South coast road crosses into St. Elizabeth parish from Westmoreland parish.
Just past Whitehouse. Roadside women selling the best bammy on the Island.
Here's the best Jamaica road map there ever was (Esso (Exxon) Gas station map from the 60s)

Rum,
Border isn't a restaurant it's a location.
It's the local name for a place.
Get Linston to take you for a ride over to St. Elizabeth some time

Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
we did it a few years ago, awesome, we would do it again,we got married in Belmont and stayed at a guest house in Belmont, and did the Black River thing too, pretty cool, but it is a full day thing, soon come
Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
Thanks for asking these questions. My wife and I had planned a trip to the Pelican Bar this last reach, but cancelled due to not wanting to take up an entire day. Next time we will plan ahead and get several people to go with us.
Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
I maybe a minority, but I did not feel it was worth it. Usually in negril 10-14 days, and I'm mot one to eat a whole day to hit a bar that is two hours away. Many love it, the pictures of it were exactly what it looks like. Novelty wore off after 10 minutes.
Again, that's just me.....
Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
I feel the same way Wis.gal. It's gimmicky, not really a Jamaican cultural thing and the only folks I'll meet there are tourists.
Pass!
Re: Pelican Bar - worth it?
Kinda cool. Once. Combine it with any tour that takes you inland to see a different Jamaica. Mayfield, YS are good fits.
