I don't know how you can do better than the JFK airport with the new Jet Blue terminal and Many non-stop flights to choose from? Also the Jet Blue terminal has like 30 agents to get in the airport.

I totally agree! Just got a ticket for $600 and consider myself lucky!
Re: What's up with airfare?
As airlines merge, the price of tickets go up.
Re: What's up with airfare?
Our Air Tran flight from BWI is up $80 this April from last April. Miss the days that I used to get free flights on Air Jamaica from my Delta Skymiles and really didn't need that many either. (heavy sigh). But, I was poorer then, so feel fortunate that I can still afford my trips.
Re: What's up with airfare?
Sun Country 3/26-4/2 is a Wed-Wed flight. Actually DROPPED $100 in the past 3 weeks. Pays to hunt, wait, compare and set your "PULL THE TRIGGER" and hold off prices. It is GREAT to score a deal but painful to wait too long to find price jump or a sold out flight. Obvious, but keeping travel dates a tad flexible if you can, is a nice way to find your best deal too.
We have also discovered that MANY hotels are willing to work a deal with you directly below advertised rates. It is great for them to avoid booking company fees, get you in the door and YOU help mitigate some of the higher airfare prices that way. Some may even throw in spiffs like phone and/or transfers, No guarantees but I was surprised to find this to be the case simply by asking in the past couple of years that I put some effort into it. A few places we thought were out of reach, came down to make for some very good value propositions. With a little "asking for the deal", you can save money or better yet, extend a stay with the same budget.
Best wishes.
Re: What's up with airfare?
I have found the best airfares booking 4-6 weeks out
Re: What's up with airfare?
I was attempting to book for April but its very expensive. I will wait...
Re: What's up with airfare?
Airlines are feeling the billions lost in all the canceled flights from this horrid winter.
I'm sure airlines are feeling the pain. Although I have no sympathy for them due to their profit margins.
I've been waiting for 2 months for a refund from AA for a seat I rebooked and can't get anyone to answer my email in a timely fashion in the department that handles the refunds.

By profit margin I'm assuming you mean extremely low profit margin?

Re: What's up with airfare?
I just booked two round trip tickets from Minneapolis for $220 total........plus 32 A+ credits for Airtran. I think the retail price was $1150.
If the flights are high make sure you shop around. I use http://www.google.com/flights to shop. They have a feature now where you can put in your location and destination, click on the departure date and at the bottom you can select the number of days you want to go and if you can go for a few days longer or shorter and then the chart shows the prices. Pretty handy if you are flexible with the dates.
