Hotel reservations generally before we leave property in Negril for the same time the following year. Flight reservations wait until 10 months out to use flight miles ;)
We book the following year at tensing pen while we are there. The place is small and fills up quick. I usually don't buy my airline tickets til 3-5 months prior.
Also, since I am self employed, I pretty much have to go on holiday during the period where I know work will be slow.
Usually about a week... I'm not so good at planning things.
Usually on the flight home! Plan a time; G keeps checking the airlines, booking sites and Aeroplan - and pounce on it when it looks good. Wish we had more vacay time! With 2 kids out in Calgary, that is gonna eat up some vacay (and JA) time - but we booked next Jan less than a week after we got back in Feb! That's pretty much a record for us! But then, this winter was the kind of winter you do that sort of thing!
Hotel? We'll find one. No worries. We'll travel with sleeping bags and find a boardie with floor space for us! :)
We are booked for Feb 2015. When my son booked for next Feb, he discovered that there were only 4 seats left on the Caribbean Air flight! The earlier the better. Plus we have something wondeful to look forward to.
Booking takes no real time. Always know where I want to stay, and the flights are direct now. So the thing I take the year for is the sales. (No not a woman! Not that there's anything wrong with that.) Just for tanks, need 4 (Wally World). Need tennis shoes. (Sear/Penny's Asics $25) Swimming trunks. (TJ Max brand name $7, have 3 now.) 3 pairs of shorts. (Same place $10-14 brand name, and tough for the wandering in the Morass.) And that's it, except for the just in case odds and ends. Oh, sandals have to have Teva. (Purchased in the winter from Gander Mountain for $19 normally $60) And ready for the next three (3) years of travel. Sam's Club for luggage. (Buy the display and talk them down to half price for Samsonite.) READY TO GO!
