Re: ATM Problem - oh no:(
Yep but long time ago , at least 3 or 4 years ago. Good out come as others but mine took longer and was with NCB.
Next to last day on trip, a sunday, atm ate my card and no money issued , requested approx $200 , went back to Rondel checked bank account and sure enough account debited , printed off transaction to show NCB next morning before we left.
Next morning Rondel called bank and vouched for us and said we were on our way to request help, bank teller not helpful unfortunately and told us tourists try to scam them all the time, paid no attention my print out from my account. Like usual instead of acting reasonable, I blew my stack and responded totally inappropriately. As I was asked to leave they told me they would mail my card back to our bank if they did find it in machine.
Called my credit union to explain on way to airport and by time we got home our account was reimbursed because fraud protection on our accounts. Once that happened to be honest forgot all about it. Approx few months later noticed an unexplained credit again for same amount and when I contacted credit union they told us that NCB finally acknowledged the mistake and issued credit , so actually got paid twice.
So my opinion is that sooner or later you will be reimbursed, sucks to wait tho, sorry for you.

ps..... i did return the extra payment, you know karma and all ....... irie
Re: ATM Problem - oh no:(
I laud those who have the courage to use debit cards. I just can't bring myself to trust them, and I have no really rational reason why. I will say though, that I was with my son a few years back... he was visiting for Christmas, lives in NC... and the Atm he was making a $100 withdrawal from gave him five $5 dollar bills, and a receipt for $100. Obviously human error on the part of whoever stocked the Atm. He went inside to complain and of course found out a couple things... he wasn't alone, and he'd have to wait for the problem to "resolve itself" which is a concept I do not understand.
Re: ATM Problem - oh no:(
One or 2 years ago, the machine 'hesitated' while it was dispensing the cash. I was concerned but not able to examine the money right then. When I counted it out in my room I found an extra $200 jmd in the midst of 1,000 bills ... the machine must have recognized the wrong bills, and corrected itself.
Tip: come with 2 ATM Debit cards, so you have a backup if any problem.
Re: ATM Problem - oh no:(
I just checked - for about the 50th time - and the money has been restored to my account! Thanks to everyone for the reassurance that this would really
"correct itself", I was definitely not feeling very optimistic! We always bring debit cards from 2 different accounts thank goodness. Another thing I noticed is that the NCB bank fee is $1 US while the Scotiabank fee is 4.75 - not that I needed another reason to stay away from the Scotiabank ATMs after the last stressful days:)
Re: ATM Problem - oh no:(
Glad you got to see that the banking system is well regulated and dependable
It's one of the many reasons I've reinvested ........
