Glad things went okay for Mikey, and the dumb thug was not armed. Doesn't matter how tough you might because anyone can be caught off guard - so I hope everyone relies more on taxis. I like how Kahuna handled his situation, too.
My view is you shouldn't do anything in Ja that you would not do at home.
Mikey's event reminds me of something that happened to me nearly 30 years ago. It was pretty scary but it's never deterred me from coming back over and over again....I soon come...been 4 years (<<<<omg I cant believe that)
It was my second time to Jamaica, I was in my early 20's and went with a girlfriend. We stayed at the tall hotel right across the street from Doctors Cave Beach. You can walk out at the top road. So one night my girl hooks up with a dude and disappears for the night, unbeknown to me. I worry all night and when she finally returns around 11 am and tells me 'bout how she met this rich guy and spend the night at his mansion WITHOUT CALLING THE HOTEL AND TELLING ME that she was alright. I was so pissed off I walked out of hotel on the top road. It was a Sunday morning I certainly was not thinking DANGER, when in an instant some guy comes outta de bushes and starts following me.
Hungry for a next fix of whatever his poison, when I looked back it only took me one second to step it up.
When all of the sudden a next dude comes outta who knows where and the 2 of them are arguing which 1 of dem is gonna rob me.
I never forget this cuz I was so damn angry at girlfriend, nobody was on the road, no car, no people, I didn't know where to run, so I just turn around and scream at them with obscenities and all, than I ran like hell all the way down the road.
