JohnG thanks for letting me know about the Travel Insurance - I thought it was something you could only purchase at the time you bought the tickets. I think we will get this insurance before our trip in March.

I am 50 years old and traveled from Washington, DC to Las Vegas for a meeting six days after my surgery. I was in pain, but walking around helped. I was definitely fine after one month. Just try to get an aisle seat so that you can stretch your leg a lot. It's a long flight. Good luck!!

Smokehouse, Check with your health insurance about complications due to previous known conditions. If something comes up related to your surgery you may not be covered. Best of luck.
