If you do get a Ja sim\number make sure those calling you from home know it is an international number they are dialing. It's usually cheaper for you to call back home then for home to call a Jamaican number. My brother ran up a hefty bill @ $2.99 a minute (from his cell) calling me the first year. He didn't realize 1-876-xxx-xxxx was an international number.

You can buy unlock codes for cheap on Ebay. I was also able to get an unlocked Iphone 4 for approx $50 on Ebay.

I bought a digicel couple of years ago, got a new sim last year and will do it again this year. I need to remember to load it every couple of months so I don't have to stand in line at the digicel store.
