A long time ago you could do that,I think now if you book that flight and do not use it the fine you somehow. Not sure how back it can be done.

We are an hour and a half away from Nashville and 4+ hours away from Atlanta. I'm just confused why it's cheaper out of Nashville. This is the first time in 16 trips that it has been cheaper out of Nashville. That's why we always flew out of Atlanta. It was significantly cheaper. Maybe it will change as it gets closer. Go figure.
gregandkelly, don't know which airline you plan to fly, but we live right outside Nashville and have flown Southwest to MBJ past couple flights. Just checked fares for our dates the end of April and it is exactly the same cost if you fly from Nashville or direct out of Atlanta. However, none of the Southwest flights connect through Atlanta. We had good luck with the early flight out of Nashville connecting through Orlando; on my last flight, I booked the late flight from MBJ connecting through Houston (Hobby), and that worked out well, too.
Maybe you could do the park and fly deal near the Nashville airport? We have always hesitated about driving to Atlanta for a direct flight because of dreading the 4 hour drive back to Nashville.
Liznash, we generally fly Delta but in the spring of 2015 we flew Southwest for the first time. We connected in Orlando which worked out perfectly because our best friends from Florida were joining us in Orlando and traveling with us for their first visit to Jamaica.
On that trip we did do the park and fly in Nashville, but we had a bad experience at that specific hotel. We prefer the direct flight out of Atlanta because there is less chance of them losing your luggage with a direct flight.
We are also going late April (23-30) so maybe we will be on the same flights!
