I disagree with all of that except the fact that JBM contains less caffeine to begin with. JBM isn't known for its "boldness" at all, it's known for its light, delicate flavor and low acidity.
I'm a coffee snob.

I get mine in Negril from Thunder for $20. He goes to the Blue Mountains to get his beans and roasts them however you want.
I really like the unique boldness of the dark roast Wallenford Blue, or Jablum brands...It really tastes like Jamaica to me.. I've bought some from Thunder and it is good, but does have a "lighter, delicate" flavor...We just saw your posting Scottie for E-Bay and Lina Roasters, and bought a bunch. Hopefully it's what we are jones'n for...and if we're lucky, we won't have to budget for/pack/risk losing in transit any purchased on the rock. This came out to <$18US/lb SWEET!!!
When we were in Negril in January I was shocked at how expensive Blue Mountain had become. First time not bringing any home.
I order mine from Darling at Blue Macaw Coffee. She and her husband roast their own beans.
They have 100% approval rating on eBay.
They have an eBay store http://www.ebay.com/usr/bluemacawcof...88.m1543.l2754 and also have their own website http://www.bluemacawcoffee.com/
Give them a try and you will be pleased
SLP..where is Thunder at?
Thunder if I recall is on the morass side behind some vendors next to Shamrock. His coffee is good, but it's not pure JBM, I think it's high mountain. At least you know it's fresh.
FYI...the Blue Mountain is over 7000ft or up to 2256m tall and coffee is grown all over it.
To be classified as Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee it has to be grown at elevations between 3000ft and 5500ft.
To be classified as Jamaican High Mountain it has to be grown between 1500ft and 3000ft.
A combination of the two is called a blend...interesting current read...http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/b...e-retail-trade
Anything higher than 5500ft is classified as a forest and can not be grown there.

I love Blue Mountain Coffee but too expensive unless you buy it in JA, Mavis Bank or higher.
Wait a minute - less caffeine in darker roasts of coffee? AND BMC has 1/3 caffeine versus other coffees? I have to avoid caffeine - so this is awesome news for me.
Huh. The stuff you learn on this board! Thanks guys!
