Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
This is a temporary situation. The police are receiving new sound meters and are being trained on their use and the proper distances involved.
This is why the promoters will need to be hosting responsible events. The police will be monitoring these events.
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
Where , other than a cow pasture miles from Negril, can someone possibly host a show that residents would not hear it??
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
Cane fields in Sav perhaps?
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
How fabulous,,,,, sound meters. We can find money for them and training to choke the party but people had to donate the town's first AED LMAO
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
Sound/Decibel meters are not expensive. And had some promoters not been irresponsible in the past, this wouldn't even be an issue.
The onus is on the promoters. They will determine their own future.

Has there been any update to this? I've read a rumor on TripAdvisor that all live music has been banned from local venues, at least temporarily. Is there any truth to this, or just a false rumor?
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
Muck...false rumour!
There is a temporary ban on new permits because of criminal activity...particularly the lotto scamming.
Should the parish councils accept money for the permits from lotto scamming proceeds they become complicit in money laundering...they are working with the police to arrive at a quick solution.
But, this has not effected any of the regular live shows...Drifters, Alfreds, Bourbon Beach, Roots etc still have their shows running.
Re: Parties and Musical Events Banned in Negril?????!
hate to see rules of this kind but yea!!!!! i am going to be able to see the mail act at a concert since that great concert series that was on the west end for several years. that was my fav

Hey Muck, that thread got shut down this afternoon....does not sound like it started out with many facts and the OP got very defensive when questioned by others.

I saw a LIVE video of the Wednesday night live reggae party at Roots Bamboo last night
