Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
OK, It's been nearly a year since this thread has surfaced and I'm hoping for an update on veggie/vegan options. We've been coming to Negril for the last 12 years or so and feel that the veggie options are more limited now then ever, which is really disappointing. Sooooo, hoping that this trend has reversed and folks will have new options to share. Right now, Yoga Center is a great option. We really miss Hungry Lion, which was fantastic!
So, what are some new options aside from Rasta/Ital, which like, but won't carry us through a week in Negril. Even a restaurants that primarily serve meat can have a great veggie dish or two.
Thanks!

To add to the list...
Canoe in the West End has a few good vegetarian options...particularly their green curry plate.
Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
While visiting Negril this November and December, I'm interested in eating at some ital kitchens that are not necessarily listed on TripAdvisor or other travel sites.help
Anybody have any ideas about what's the best way to accomplish that? I plan to ask my airport transfer, Turner Taxi, for help. But thought I'd also post my question here in case any of y'all have any tips.
Thanks...
Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
Ras Rody's on the Westend
Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
to keep it 100% honest, ras rody's is often not 100% ital- i've seen shadrach put grace foods seasoning into his stews.
but that's probably splitting hairs for most people.
i'm at home right now, boiling congo peas for a pot of what will most likely be ital-ish stew- it won't be truly ital if i add salt to it.
Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
I'm not a vegetarian, but this thread makes me miss Royal Kitchen that used to be on the west end. In my younger days I could get a big plate of ital food for cheap, and unlike most ital food it actually tasted good. Errol, the elder Ras who ran the place was one of the nicest people you could encounter as well. I hope he's doing well these days
Re: Vegetarian, places to eat in Negril?
Thanks for the tips. I've eaten a lot of Ital in Saint Vincent, Grenada, St Lucia, and Tabago. Always found it to be very tasty. In fact some of the tastiest food available, which is why I seek it out wherever I go.
I did notice some of places were not true Ital by salting some dishes. I prefer without salt. But I'm willing to overlook that minor indiscretion as long as it's not overdone.
So I've got Ras Rody's, Rasta Ade, and Just Natural on my short list.
Any more ideas?

Fondly remember some wonderful meals that Chisty would specially prepare at Idle Awhile if you requested an Ital meal. Sadly he has passed

There's a place on the beach not far from Alfred's (can't remember the name).
It is away from town and does serve Ital.

Cool. I found Alfred's on the map that Odinson just posted in answer to another question. So I'll just walk down the beach toward Alfreds till I find the Ital sign. Thanks for the picture. That helps.
