They used to(maybe still do) refer to Jamaica as before Gilbert and after. It was devastating, but yet they rebuilt and survived. I spoke with many residents who lived through Gilbert and for some it was truly a terrifying experience.
Yes, everyone was terrified. We all had the same experience. Gilbert cut a line across the island from Kingston to the the Negril beach. The eye passed right over head and the sound of the wind was truly indescribable.Quote:

we came down right after Gilbert, helped in clean up...it was a mess...but the people kept up with great attitudes......
