WOW! That's an amazing deal!
So March 14 is 44 days from now. Which is about 6 weeks...give or take a day
So You found this deal during the elusive "six-week-before-sweet-spot". This means the six week theory is correct!
This deal you found has renewed my hope of finding cheap tickets to Jamaica in April. I just have to wait it out...:)
Sweetsue - I agree with you about Florida flights, they are strangely expensive.
Example: I can fly to Miami from SF for as low as $200 roundtrip.... but then I would have to pay $320 round trip to fly from Miami to Montego Bay??
I don't understand why that is.

i haven't see a real good fare from Los Angeles in many years -- by really good, i mean 400 or less ....

You are right Clarity. I worked in the travel industry for 12 years and about 6 or 7 weeks is the sweet spot for both flights and rooms. We always wait and between the reg airlines and picking up extra seats on the charters from Funjet and Apple we almost always pay around $300 total or less. It does help that we are both self employed and in the winter can leave with very short notice.

Prism - That's awesome!
Gerryg123 - It happens, although the deals never last long. You should sign up for airfare watchdog email updates. See below fare from Spirit Airlines two weeks ago. I checked it, The deal was legit but unadvertised and it only lasted one day. It was for early March if I remember right.

Wow these are great deals. we paid $675 with stop over's! Due to the nature of my girlfriends work,we had to book way in advance. We used Kayak to find prices.do you have better searches or suggestions were to look for great deals?I agree don't ever fly Airtran.Ever

I use Kayak to find deals, but ALWAYS book at the airlines actual website. The cost is always less, sometimes not much but other times you can save quite a bit. I think we saved 50 total with our latest booking.
AirTran blows, my husband used to travel weekly and I cannot count the number of times he was f**ked over. And that's not counting the time they screwed over our whole family leaving us stranded at Newark overnight. Without so much as a soda and a sorry.I skim over any flight with AirTran doesn't matter how much less the cost. I have zero faith the times they list are anything more than guesstimates. There customer service is equally terrible.
