Re: Legends for $37 a night in September...
I know you like an on-site pool, but I still think you should give Bar B Barn a long look. The rooms and beds are nice, the AC is great, the food is amazing (at Angelas, the entrees are big enough to split into two meals), and best of all you ask them do something one time, and it gets DONE .... That's a nice thing in Negril.
Also, the three times I've stayed at BB Barn, there was an unofficial agreement with Coral Seas across the street that you could use their pool.
Re: Legends for $37 a night in September...
I'll definitely keep it in mind..I am getting really tempted to just budget like between $500 to $700 for a room for two weeks, then just wait until I get down there and see what I can get then, even though it would be something I've never done before and more than a little outside my comfort zone, I'm really considering it..
Re: Legends for $37 a night in September...
Negrilaholic, I have stayed there once on a good deal. Not that bad, I have stayed at worse places that others had ranked high. It's clean, I liked the bar and good food. Beach was a problem for me ( but there is 7 miles of beach, you can hang out somewhere else) and A/C needed to be replaced long ago. Remember, It's hot hot in August. When you check in let them know you want a room with good A/C, breathing problem or something. For $37.00 a night, I say go for it. That is a great savings for another reach to JA. Hope this helps.

Negrilaholic,
Don't want to dis Gerry - but our experience with Legends was 180 degrees the opposite.. We were treated like gold there.. The staff was wonderful, and very responsive to our needs. The noise is a factor - but we always stayed on the "garden side" across the street where the noise is non-existent. Crossing the street is worth the privacy and quiet. There is also a large pool on that side that is usually pretty much unoccupied - a wonderful quiet place to relax! It is true the beach is small - erosion and all - but they have enlarged it by removing some of the deck. I have written a couple of reviews of the place on trip advisor.. We loved it - and I think you will too.. And at $37 a night you can't go wrong!

I have never stayed there but my brother and sister stayed there while we were next door at Kuyaba. Basic inexpensive accommodations. My only complaint when hanging out with them was the bar. Any drink with "fruit" in it contained no actual fruit just flavored syrup. Not my idea of a good drink...

wow that is an awesome deal!
Re: Legends for $37 a night in September...
If you are not picky, and are just looking for a low rate....Legends shouldnt be a disappointment, just dont go with high expectations. I didn't actually stay there, I stayed at Samsara but took the shuttle down and used Legends as my "beach home" during the day. I agree with everything Gerry said. I didnt find the staff at either of their properties to be particularly friendly, but on the same note I don't have any actual complaints about their customer service. Found the accomodations to be adequate for a low budget hotel. Again, I didnt sleep at Legends so i can't comment on the noise level, but I did think that it was a nice part of the beach...right next to Bourbon Beach etc...
Re: Legends for $37 a night in September...
Bourbon Beach has a special through the end of September - $50 per day but you get a $40 Food and Beverage credit each day. Take a look at their website - bbnegril.com

I'm heading back to Legends for the 5th time in July. I can tell you that I have never had a bad experience there. It's basic but clean, great food and well worth the money. They have always been good to me and my family thats why I keep going back.
