I've never been a big rum lover, mostly from having not spent enough time in the Caribbean. The rum I had in Negril was by far better than anything I had before. The Xtabi dirty banana with Appleton rum and the overproof down the straw and on top was the best ever. The Dragon Spitfire beer with rum in it was also very nice. Rum in the islands is quite a local specialty and preference. I hope you find that perfect rum and mixer!

When you grow that much cane, you tend to use a lot of it in beverages, food, (like ketchup), and of course rum.
Have not been a big rum drinker in the past, on our august trip with a friend he deciuded we should try trhe rum punch in as many bars as possible! There are many different formulas used some really good and some not so much! Some really sweet and some not so much!

Ting is great for a mixer and they now have Pink Ting & Diet Ting available in most stores. It a very refreshing beverage on it's own (I love Vodka with Ting and cranberry juice)

I prefer a rum tasting to a seminar.
I also vote for Appleton Special and Ting. Also, the locals drink white overproof rum and coconut water. I tried it a few time, just not a whole lot of it at once. It's tasty!
