Re: First trip to Negril.
Thanks for all the responses. I will be there April 15th thru April 21st. I am staying at Firefly. Don't know how that will work for me but I liked the location. I believe middle of the beach. I did not want to do the all inclusive. I am more of a meet the people kind of guy.

Re: First trip to Negril.
Hi Russ, welcome to the board.
I'll be staying at the Coco La Palm (just left of your hotel as you face the water) Drop by and chat, I can point you towards what ever your looking for. You can meet a tone of people at the Broadcasts.
See you there.
Re: First trip to Negril.
Good Morning Russ! and welcome to Negril.com. As too what to do...depends on how busy you want to be and how big of a budget you have. Remember the best part of Negril is just parking yourself on the beach and/or walking the beach. Sitting and watching the world go by is a fulltime job in Negril. If you're interested in some adventure, then find yourself a taxi driver that is good to you and someone you can trust. Remember it has to be a red plate taxi. These are drivers that are licenced to carry tourists.
There are so many places to go and so much to see but because you’re only there for a week, I wouldn’t recommend doing to too much. A Black River/ YS falls day trip would be nice. If you want to hang around locally, then an afternoon trip to the Red Dragon, Rick’s CafĂ©, and a wonder down the beach to Margaritaville would also be a good idea.
There should be many return guests at the Firefly so go to the bar and ask around about what to do. Sunbeach bar is right next door to the Firefly and they have a gathering of long time Negril visitors. Some have been going there for many years. Seek out Dennis at Sunbeach and he’ll point out some people to talk to.

Russ leave the bling at home, pack less clothes and take more cash. Only plans you need is to get to da beach (which you have) and let the vibe take you away.
Re: First trip to Negril.

Re: First trip to Negril.
Hi Russ...Firefly is a favorite of mine...Maxine who works the bar/kitchen is very nice, she will gladly answer any questions while she is making you an excellent meal. Tell her Angela says maxine is the best! She will know who I am....I visit her daily when I'm there.
You can also head right next door to Sunbeach..its a good bar, food is alright and live reggae on thurs and sun nights.
If you go the other way, captain ziggy has jetskis, littlesailboats, and kyaks for rental....just past that is Wild Parrot...great little beach bar with EXCELLENT food...I have stayed there many times now...it's my home in Negril.
Take a beach walk in each dirEction the first couPle of days to see what's up past the area you are in. I have to admit...I never ventured past Sunbeach, Firefly, Ziggy's and Wild Parrot at Christmas....I was very happy to just chill there...have a wonderful time!!
