Oh ya, the sand is back! Great to see that. :)
thanks for the Country Country pic update, barely 2 weeks to go til our return
We slowly worked our way down the beach. It's always an experience as the colors are so intense and the cast of characters will vary from trip to trip.

Nice to see Tony & his craft hut.....
That was like taking a walk along the beach. thanks Chuck. Its nice and wide. Are those nuns in white and blue? I have not seen a habit in those colours before
Very interesting to see nuns on the beach.
We eventually found our way to Alfreds where we enjoyed a lunch. I had the fish sandwich and it was great. After lunch and waiting out an afternoon shower we headed across the road to Time Square. After all, we were on a mission to find the gizzadas made famous by Kahuna3. And we found them as well as some other goodies at the Caribbean Cafe & Bakery.

There is a nice lady in Times Square that makes and sells baskets. She is located in the inner mall. The reason I mention her is she always has such interesting hairdos. She is always pleasant to talk with and happy to have me take a picture.

That evening we had planned to have dinner at our hotel but it seemed they did not have many of the items on the menu. Instead we grabbed a taxi and ventured out to Chicken Lavish. Cathy had sweet & sour chicken and I had the fried chicken. Both were excellent. There was so much food we were able to bring some home for our new cat friends at our hotel.

That was just great justchuck. How were the gizzadas? As good as Kahuna3 say's they are?
The gizzadas were every bit as good as Kahuna3 had reported. Very tasty!

Gotta have me some of those. Are you there all next week jc?
No, sadly I'm not there anymore. We had to return Jan. 1st. But you have to leave if you wanna go back.
Despite its problems, Negril Escape was still a fun place to stay although I wouldn't call it a resort. The place kinda reminded me of staying in Negril in the 90's when not having power or water pressure was pretty much the norm. I enjoyed the grounds and the photo ops.

JustChuck, thanks again for posting more very nice pictures Is this last installment of pictures above all from Negril Escape? If so too bad the rooms have a problem since the property/yard looks very nice in the photos.
Thanks for posting, just what we need on a cold snowy day.
Soon come
Yes, all the pics in the last set were from Negril Escape.
Just down the street from Negril Escape was a little neighborhood store called Valu Mac Mini Mart. It was operated by a very nice lady named Rose.

At the checkout were fresh eggs, and little packets of oil, margarine and ketchup.

Great stuff jc. Gives a lot of us a perspective on Negril we othewise wouldn't see.
One thing that's great about Jamaica you don't have to buy a whole bottle of cooking oil or a tub of margarine. You can buy 1 egg 1 cig. 1 aspirin 1 halls cough candy etc. and the list goes on. Wish Canada was like that.
Cheers
Really great pics. Thanks for sharing
It was Sunday morning and we decided to take a walk along the westend road.

You just warmed up my very cold day with those fab photos! Loving this report. You do capture the feel of Negril, thanks, mon.
We continued walking the westend road until we reached Whoopies park and then it was time to stop for a refreshment.

Hey jc, The picture above the bar of the guy with the black cap on, is there a story behind that?
The guy in the picture is Dennis who was the owner of Whoopies. Tragically, he was killed in an accident recently. As I understand it, his two daughters are now running the bar. One of his daughters is in one of the pics. She is a school teacher but works the bar on weekends. She was very nice to talk with.
Thoroughly enjoying your photos! Been planning a trip with my adult kids and will point them to your post to let them really get an idea of just why their parents are so enamored with Negril.
After walking as far as Out of Town Pastry we decided to take a taxi back to Negril Escape. I wanted to explore a little more and had the taxi drop me off at Seastar Lane. On the way to Seastar I saw what is probably the brightest pink house I have seen yet. I had a drink at Seastar and the walked beck to my hotel ( I have trouble calling it a Resort). I stopped at Ras Roddy's for a cup of soup. It was a 3 bean vegetable soup which was delicious. Returning to Negril Escape, Cathy was just getting a salad whch looked pretty good.

Loved your photos, every one. Thanks for sharing
Fab photos as always. Thanks for sharing. :) We walked many of the same paths a month earlier, it is so nice to see another point of view. That pink house threw me a bit, as I feel like after a week walking the Seastar lane, I would have noticed it. It is a very fresh paint job, as I went back to my pictures and at the beginning of December it was a much more tame brownish orange. Sure would make giving directions easy...
We spent part of the afternoon at the pool for a little swim, exploring the grounds a little meditation pon the porch.

Sweet!
That is a lovely colour on her! It not only looks great, she looks so comfortable. Cool! Sorry we missed you - had a great dinner with you guys and Gerryg a while back (Bentley's)! We had fun that night! 6 sleeps and I will be warm again! :)
Great post and great pics!
Thanks for sharing!
Your pictures are wonderful, thanks for the tour. What type of camera are you using? Can't wait to get back to Whoopies and the West End. Did you any chance see if Bentley's was open yet?
Have a fun trip M&G!
Several people have emailed to inquire what kind of camera I used. On this trip I used two cameras, a Sony a77 and a Sony Nex 6. The kind of camera doesn't really matter, its what you do with the camera that matters. So I implore you, if you are getting a camera, take the time to read the manual and become familiar with it. Technology is great and there are many good cameras available.
Here's a few images from Rick's.

great photos JC
Monday morning arrived. After breakfast we pondered what to do for the day. I wanted to go for a walk and Cathy wanted to go shopping. We both boarded the Negril Escape bus as it made its daily trip to the Boardwalk but I had them drop me off at the river just north of the roundabout. I figured I would just explore downtown and then start walking the westend road.
