How I like to enjoy Rick's..... From a distance
Heard smoke like a Jamaican a thousand times, not too much about drinking like a Jamaican. Where can one get a Q in Negril? I was able to get one at the Police Station and a couple great little bars up on the West End, but haven't asked anywhere else. Can you roll up at most places and order a Q? In the country always, not sure about Negril.
Here's a few random shots…

Seveen, thanks for the answer - never in a million years would I have guessed something non-edible under the chicken. :)
Used to get Qs at 3 Dives regularly, can't imagine why they'd stop stocking them. Best deal anywhere, I agree. A couple of glasses, some ice, a Q of Appleton/Smirnoff/whatever and a bottle of Ting and I'm good to go :)Quote:

Booger, start your trip by buying a small flask/bottle of anything from a liquor store, then drink up. When the bottle's finished, take it with you. I guarantee that any little bar will sell you a Q of what you want to drink. Even one of the 'more frequented by tourists rather than by locals' bar should be willing to fill yours up - though you may pay tourist prices for it rather than local.

Thanks for posting your photo-I've been trying to figure out the name of the where I ate frequently in 1977. I stayed nearby at Mirage, (not Le Mirage). I only recall the restaurant/bar, the Cliffs were quiet and sleepy, the candle light flickering of "home sweet home" lanterns, before there was electricity. It used to be called Mariners, now Negril Escape. Glad the laid-back vibe in Negril has been sustained. Thanks for the memory.

Yup. I was hanging out at Jamaican Style Bar (across from Mirage), and an ex-pat walked up with an empty pint bottle, and the bartender happily topped-him off with some white rum. Brilliant!, I thought.
Oh, yeah here's a couple pics...
