As Bruce Cockburn wrote "everyboooody.......loves to seeeeeeee.........justice done.......on somebody else" :)
It just seems to me you are you are over reacting just a lil bit.
No wonder you are # 2 on tripadvisor. Your post reads like a carbon copy of many of the bad reviews on trip advisor.
Just an FYI...some restraunts only accept cash....like Canoe. Best to ask before you sit down to order.
LR - what? That's not the relevant issue here. They do accept credit cards; which was ascertained in advance.
Where's that animated GIF of the guy eating popcorn?
I'm not sure what you mean by your comment. but i agree with you they had your info no reason for them to hold you at that point. and i do ask twds the end of my stay when i know im running low on funds before i sit down if they accept cc if it's someplace i haven't previously been to.
Miss Blue, I was just adding this as one night I went for dinner at Canoe and when it came time to pay I got out my cc and was told cash only. It was embarrassing as I figured a well advertised restraunt would accept cc. I felt that a sign should have been posted "cash only". I had to run to the ATM machine to pay for dinner!
I feel for all the aggregation Misti had to go thru at a restraunt that failed to tell her that their lines were down. I realize that it ruined her last night and morning in Negril. I stated the fact I did in this thread so those reading would know that some well established restraunts don't accept cc. I guess I should have started a new thread.
I never expected to see a quote from Charles Spurgeon, a great English preacher from 100+ years ago.

Bob
Please, just stop.
Oh Heavens not getting in on the drama but David lives in Jamaica now primarily and he is there this week positively.
Thank you
Very sorry you had a nightmare experience Misti1.
Customer service has generally improved in Negril over the last 15 years in my experience; but does not yet come very close to the North American model.
They should have done better for you.
I would think if your are the number two worldwide reviewer? You would realize things like this do happen in Jamaica quite regularly, but then we wouldn't have four pages of worthless nonsense to read!

Lets start with I love Negril.com and read it daily as for the most part love it! On the other hand there are things you can't say or do here or on Trip advisor. You will not make many friends here by posting anything negative about the favored restaurants, bars or resorts. People in general have strong feelings about the places they love and if you say anything other than they are perfect you will lose. It is why I do not post a lot. We have made 20 plus trips to Negril and have had good and bad experiences at many places, I for one think anyone deserves a second chance and even when I have had a bad experience I have given said place a second chance sometimes it works out sometimes it does not. When I have posted positive reviews all is well but post something negative and you are now longer on the friends list. There are 3 places I could care less if I ever go back to unless it is just be part of the crowd and hang out with friends that like the place and we go there just for them. All 3 are potbelly rated in the top 5 places to eat for 90 percent of the people that frequent this forum or trip advisor.
For me I am glad you posted your review as I think people need to read both the good reviews and the bad reviews and then have the chance to make up there own mind what they will do. Whenever i read reviews of a place I don't even consider the best reviews or the worst reviews, so many of the best are fake and so many of the worst are sour grapes about something that may or may not have even mentioned.
I run a retail business and know what good customer service is. As for the people on the pub crawl not much could have been done about that so long as the people we not being rude or vulgar. If they were just drinking and having fun that is just part of the restaurant bar scene. As far as the Line for the credit card being down this is a easy fix. There surely was someone there that had a cell phone, On all credit card machines there is a help number that you can call for an authorization for times just like this. If no one at the place could do this bad on them for lack of training on how it could be done with no internet or land line phone service.
We have eaten at Xtabi several times and like it there.
Our Favorites on west end
Sharks, Ahhbee's, Jamaica Style, De Bar, Murphy's, LTU, Chio Jamaica, Ras Roddies
Our could care less list
Seastar, Canoe, Rockhouse
Must Try List
Presley's and Bentley's
In the end be careful what you say here or on trip advisor

Dont Tread On Me!!
Thank you Living the Dream, time for some perspective. We have been going to Xtabi for many years and love it. Not every experience is going to be positive but that dosen't mean that it is all bad. I sure can't get too upset about people drinking, having fun and cliff jumping. That is what Negril and Xtabi is all about, isn't it? Chill.
Great post, Timm.
I probably would've come-up with same list, or something very close. You're the first person I found that likes Jamaica Style as much as I do. I just think they don't get enough publicity as they are not on TA.
And I know it's sacrilege to say it around here, but I didn't really care for the food at SearStar that much. We should give them another try, but my wife isn't in any rush to go back.
Misti1, David has responded to your review on the other website.
Well, that was an interesting response ~~
I'd like to point out that we are only hearing one side of the story, and will never hear the other side.
I'm sorry that one night you were inconvenienced out of your 90 day trip. Sucks that it happened on your last day.
That being said, I deal with customer service issues in my job and let me just say that while the impression must be given that the customer is always right (at least in the USA) that is far, far from reality.
For example:
My most recent customer service issue involved a young lady who came to one of my stores to purchase an iPhone 6. We ran her credit to ascertain her eligibility, and in the time it took to run her credit, we sold the last one.
Her story was we lied, we cheated, we bait-and-switched, and then destroyed her credit. She made threats around 1 star reviews online, and complaints with the BBB and FTC. She asked for people to be fired. My team tells an entirely different story about the interaction.
I speak with the woman, and of course she's as sweet and calm as can be. We make arrangements to go above and beyond for her, to the point of essentially giving her a top-of-the-line device for nearly free, and no contract, none of that. Hand-delivered to the location of her choice.
She got what she wanted.
Then we pulled the videotapes.
She was nasty, screaming, cursing, and causing a scene. Dropping F-bombs in front of little children and their parents. Making threats at my staff. My staff offered to accomodate her with a credit, promising to hold a device from the next shipment, getting one from another store the next day, but her demands where that she gets an iPhone NOW, or heads will roll.
The takeaway? There are ALWAYS TWO SIDES TO THE STORY, and customers don't always give accurate descriptions! Sometimes people just don't take their own behavior into account.
Is this what happened here? Probably not. But there are always two sides, and I wonder as to her behavior when she discovered things would not go as planned.
Yet you felt the need to tell how they apologized for "ruining your evening". I quote:
Unfortunately our romantic table was in between them and the view of their friends jumping so they just rolled over us. Later they apologized for ruining our evening . I was to learn that they were on Linfields famous Pub crawl, so I told them I understood.
The lady came over on her own and said that, we as a matter of fact had been laughing, taking pictures and enjoying the stuff with them. I guess she just thought that they had invaded, but nope not the case, and I will not let you split hairs with me to avoid the major issue.. Interesting that you are still reading and commenting though you asked ME to JUST STOP...LOL so transparent.
