For us it's a private ride with a good friend of many years, Everton Farrier and his brother Grover. We're met with smiles, hugs and a cooler of ice cold Red Stripes and Appleton and Coke Light. We stop in Lucea for some supplies and change some money. We stay at Donaldson's Inn on the beach. Everton's a small operator from Logwood with a couple cars and a van. They take care of us our entire trip. Good people.
Soon come, come soon!
I still keep in touch with people I first met on the bus ride to Negril. Some nearly 30 years ago. Although I like the personalized service of a private driver, there is still a lot of fun when riding with a group on the bus. Sharing stories with other experienced travelers, or giving simple tips to better enjoy their vacation to first timers. I don't really care if I get to my hotel a few minutes sooner either, the ride to Negril is a great start to my vacation!
What ever you choose is up to you........BUT if you want to ride a bus full of excited people, stop for drinks, and such.........all I can say is " ONE LOVE BUS PUB CRAWL~~ BIG FUN!
Does anyone know the route the bus takes when dropping people off in NegriL? Which resorts are first and last?
There's only one way in. It goes from North to South and the up the West end for additional fee.
Cap
Actually there is no additional fee. You just tip the driver at the end of the ride, whatever you feel is fair. Seems like most peeps do $10 a person.
We use Luxurious Carib Tours. Fun guys, cold beers, willing to stop anywhere. Very trustworthy too.
No comparasion........Private all the way! We can grocery shop in Mo bay before going to Negril, have a 6 pack cold brews waiting, and just ease on down the road........We have been on buses that take an hour to fill up(waiting in a hot bus)and then 2-4 hours to get to our hotel(mostly cause we like the cliffs) with screaming babies, rude tourists and no breaks for beer or bathrooms. Plus by the time you get to your destination you run for a cold beer to destress and then still have to get some groceries for munchies and special cold drinks. We NEVER found it enjoyable.....except for a Wonderful bus driver or 2 that offered lots of information on the island cause I loke the front seat to take lots of pictures.......Don't need to meet other people I may not run into, if yu want that do the bar crawl. Just m.
y opinion
What might be fun for one might not be for another. I say if your curious and an adventurer try it. You will know then and it will be your decision and part of your adventure. This is the attitude most of us live by or we would never have ventured away from the AI's.
Wow jan....you sound like an uptight traveler....lol.
2nd that!
