Thanks for the live reports Rob! ;) Ya'll be safe mon! I talked to Delroy last night, everything ok mon! Got everything picked up. I'm calling him again at noon today and this evening. Bless up!
I hope and pray that the latest reports are accurate and Jamaica doesnt get hit to hard from hurricane matthew. I know Jamaicans are resilient and strong people but life for most is hard enough without natural disasters. Ty Rob and Lisa for the updates and be safe
Saw a picture online yesterday of a waterspout that was supposed to be in the water off Negril.
Stay safe!
Jamaica is prepared! The Police Stations are on alert. The NWA has pre-positioned equipment and crews. JPS is working on the localized outages and busy countering the rumors of the "grid being turned off". The latest from CVM news!
thanks for the updates, stay safe, soon come
At the NHC 11:00 EDT update, Monday, October 3, 2016, on Hurricane Matthew, their forecast is for the hurricane, 24 hours out, to not come any closer to Kingston, Jamaica than 279 statute miles. Hurricane force winds only extend out 35 miles from the storm's center and Kingston has less than a 50/50 chance of even experiencing Tropical Storm winds. Negril has a less that 10% chance of that. Rain is the big issue here, as 5 to 10 inches of rain is expected to fall on extreme eastern Jamaica. Haiti, extreme Eastern Cuba, and the central Bahamas are in the direct path. Thank goodness Jamaica is spared a direct hit again. Let's hope that it gives the others a glancing blow.
Please keep us up to date. I check back every few hours for new developments as I'm sure many others do too. Prayers and Best Wishes.
Ummm...thanks Rob for airing our laundry...thankfully it's completely dry!! :p
Looking out the window awhile ago...the sky was completely covered in clouds...oddly enough the sky is currently sharing some of her beautiful blues.
Headed out shortly...will let you all know what's going on around town etc.
Thank you Lisa!! Ya'll ROCK!! Rob is da mon on getting the laundry done!! He deserver's some Red Ground Jerk Pork and a few cold beers ;)
If I lived in Kingston or anywhere on the East coast I'd book a room in Negril and have a party!
Love living in the wild West
On a more sober note ......please pray the people of Haiti, Cuba and The Bahamas
BTW. Up here in Florida they're starting to pay attention. For the last three days my schedule has revolved around the 3 hr NHC updates. Looks like I'll be continuing the schedule

Getting better news;)
Back at the beach Command Centre, our famous Seven Mile Beach has avoided any damage. The "storm surge" appears to be about two inches...

Mon, wish I was walking dat beach with a Red Stripe in da hand!
Rob,
Thanks for the beach pic. I was hoping you would post one, but I didn't want to risk life and limb to get it. Looks like that was not an issue. Happy that I will have plenty of walkable beach when I am there in less than 2 weeks. Looks like Jamaica is going to avoid a major hit, but thinking about the folks in Haiti and Cuba.
We would like to thank everyone for all the kind words of encouragement and support. There was no wind or rain last night in Negril.
Thanks again everyone!
Ya mon! Prayers worked!
So grateful Jamaica was spared. Thanks for the updates Rob and Lisa.
So happy that Jamaica has weathered this! Thank you Rob & Lisa for keeping us updated.
I've spent the last couple days reading posts, looking at Coco Lapalm webcam - and looking online for a Negril getaway in the next month or so (trip #27). Need to do our part to help support the local economy.
... toes in the sand!
Mother Nature...ya gotta love her unpredictability!
I was talking to a couple yesterday who had arrived on Thursday...they said this is some of the most beautiful weather they've ever experienced in Negril.
This is one of the reasons why Jamaicans seem glib and unprepared or lacking panic about hurricane/storm announcements...they so often just pass on by! But, don't confuse a lack of panic with the inevitable preparation...everyone pulls together.
Prayers sent to Haiti and those still in the track of Hurricane Matthew.
I hear ya Lisa.
Since arriving the middle of last week, the weather has been about perfect. The little wind is welcome. Glad I left So. Florida so I could make some room for Matthew!
Peace and Guidance
NEGRIL WILL REBUILD

LMAO Flip...priceless!
Very happy to hear that Negril was spared from much harm. East end of the island??? On the East Coast in the Northeast we are perhaps going to be effected but way too early to know for sure. Pray for us that the storm moves offshore and misses the US!!!
An unusual picture emailed to us by our Boardie community member Teresa! This waterspout formed as Matthew approached Jamaica! Thank you Teresa and Larry!

That's wicked looking!
Amazing Photo!
Nicole is now a hurricane. She looks stationary - I feel like she's waiting for Matthew to circle back down south - their union (or spawn) would be fearsome. Disclaimer: I am not a meteorologist nor do I play one on TV.
Good webcams here watching the East Coast of Florida - check out the foolhardy surfers on South Beach.
