One question about Montanas - last year we tried to go down for breakfast on a couple occasions - with no luck. Closed both times. Anyone know either when they open or how I can get ahold of them? Thanks!

I'm looking forward to jerk sausage from hot dog cart on beach. Jerk chicken from DeBar....hmmm, let me think about this some more...
cheers:cool:and beers
I've always wondered about the hot dog cart (I saw on TA). Sometimes I'm in the mood for good old american junk food. Are the hot dogs good and where is this located?
Tried Swordfish in Dec and it was amazing. Sit upstairs on the water, great breeze on an otherwise still night. Food was incredible and the price was great.
I believe that there are two carts, one near Rondel and the other further down towards roots bamboo. I haven't tried a dog but the sausage was delicious and made to order. I'm pretty sure that they are quality hot dogs and not red in color
I'll second Treehouse. That's where we have stayed for 15 years. The food has always been pretty good but the last couple trips we have been hard pressed to find better. The Oxtail, fish escovich, and lobster are all great. I hope they still have the dinner specials going because we are back in March.
Unfortunately, I haven't noticed Big D's out on the beach yet this year...anyone else?
Pics from 2015/2016 that I posted...easy to recognize...

Ossie's Top Taste aka Miss Madge's Restaurant by Ossie's Jerk Centre is a great choice for dinner. This place kinda flies under the radar but serves an excellent fried Red Snapper, Chicken Chop Suey, Sweet-N-Sour Chicken, Grilled Kingfish and Lobster when in season all at a very reasonable price. Not to far from Tree House. We've never had a bad meal there.
Under the radar is an understatement ................. we never even knew it existed until we stayed at the Donaldson Inn. I was just a short walk through the property garden to Miss Madge's. Definitely home cooking at it's best ! ! Located across the road from Ossie's Jerk Center on the property of the Donaldson's Inn.
Happy to see that Big D's is still around.
One of our favorites! Ericas on the West End.Attachment 47376
Love me some lobsta at Erica's. I heard they moved recently. Does anybody have detailed instructions as to how I might find them this reach? Thanks much!
Last night's shrimp scampi at Swordfish. The fresh shrimp was being cleaned when I got there. And the view is so nice from the second level.

I have a foodie question for you.. my wife and I tend to stay in the ocean all day and we always look for good carryout lunch at about 2-3pm to eat on our raft in the water. We are often disappointed because patty-man is out of patties by that time. Sir D's is usually good for his jerk snausages but we like some variety. Any suggestions for hand foods in mid-beach area?
Thanks!
Frank
Just got back. thanks for all the suggestions.
Best meal was at Boat Bar for dinner, the curried lobster was excellent. I had the snapper escoveitch. Also enjoyed Colette's, Quality Seafood and Montana's for the first time. 3 Dives is still good, but got thrown off by fast service. Was counting on a long wait so we got some jerk chicken and pork at Best of the West before we went out. Had food at 3 Dives in about 1/2 hour. Did the 100 candle dinner at Ivan's, it was so windy we only got about 20 candles lol. I see no need to do that again, but still enjoy the food there, one of the best. LTU still very good.
3 Dives fast service SWEET!!! Thanks for the review saeyedoc!
@ Saeyedoc - Welcome back! Did you eat at Montana's for breakfast/lunch/ or dinner? What hours were they open? We tried to hit them up a few times last year for breakfast, but weren't open when we got there (March). Is food at Boat Bar new?
We ate dinner at Montana's, not sure of their hours. I would never have thought of eating at Boat Bar, but Lonnie, the owner of Nirvana recommended it on this thread. I think they've always had food, but may have a new chef. The food was excellent and as a bonus, Joe Issac's band (who plays at Boat Bar regularly) was at Rondel next door.
We had great meals at Treehouse, Kuyaba and Sunrise.
Tree House is usually good.
rasta ade next to rooms on the beach if you like veg
qualities seafood excellent
You have to try the pineapple cole slaw at De Bar, it is so good. Everyone had great meals at Swordfish, I will certainly put them on our list for next time. Treehouse was the best, the coconut curry seafood dish with roti had lobster enough to share.
Charela has nice live music/dancing on the patio on Thursday nights and the food has always been good. We try not to miss it!
I'll cast my vote for DeBar in the west end across from the old Sunset on The Cliffs hotel (now Coral Seas Cliff - again). DeBar is very laid back and serves up some of the very best jerk in Jamaica - it might take a while, but it's worth it! Also, while I'm not a vegan, RastaAde on the beach is amazing food. RastaAde also has the added bonus of being right next door to some of the cheapest Red Stripe on the beach at Sunnyside Beach Bar ($200j). Also, not to be missed on the beach is Auntie's - a tiny local spot near the Tree House - fresh lobster and chicken with outstanding jerk sauce - oh, and don't forget to stop by there at lunchtime for your patty fix!
I would highly recommend the food at Coco La Palm, Montana's Cafe, Charela Inn, Kuyaba Negril, and Ivan's Restaurant.
