JoJo, You gotta be getting excited with your first trip a month away yesterday! I'll be there a few days ahead of you. My daughter (JenDeke), her GF and grandson are coming down too but will be gone by the 13th (they're getting there a few days ahead of me cause of conflicting schedules, but are comfy there since I had them there last year) so you won't get to meet them :( .

I 3rd what JoJo said about WS she turned me on to them and I stayed this pass November in the 1bedroom apartment and it was great although I'm a Coco & Rondel kinda girl I have added WS to the list...you will enjoy staying there!
You should shoot for April Boardie bash week the last week in April it will be a blast with lots of other solo travelers!

Thanks for the suggestion! It looks like last week of April is nearly sold out at WS.. Should be fun for you all!
I almost bit the bullet for WS then freaked out. I am not a high maintenance girl but I am kind of. LOL! Not really I just have to be realistic. I don't need fancy accommodations but I also don't want to be completely self sufficient either. :(
I just keep going back to IAW and think that is where I would be most comfortable going from AI to non AI. Even though it is triple the price of WS.
UGH!! Why can't I make a decision.

I totally understand! Even though I enjoyed my stay at WS I most likely will head back to Coco or Rondel my comfort zones!😅😅
Take your time and go with your gut feeling and enjoy!

Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
Jennifer.... absolutely, if you was a little more fancy, YOU will probably be more comfy at IAW.........myself, I JUST NEED A CLEAN ROOM, HOT WATER, Safety , AND A REALLY NICE BALCONY...........
The reason I always send solos to WS, is it's really nice social bar..... but you can always go there and have a drink, ..or 2... :)

Really that is all I need too girl!! My main things are all that you mentioned but crazy you mentioned the balcony because that is what I am obsessed with by pics at IAW.. They look so spacious and comfy!!! A comfy balcony is honestly why I keep going back to wanting to stay at IAW.... I like to drink coffee, smoke cigs, and play games in the morning and want a comfy balcony to do so. Are balconies at WS good size?

Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
Jen, if you go to their home page, click on rooms, and if you click on standard room, garden side.....you can see a pic of a balcony, and see it is nice and large. Like I said before , I always get second floor, and I spend ALOT of time on my balcony!

Jenn I don't know you but here is my deal, my most important thing in the world is the safety and happiness of my wife. White Sands lets me sleep at night without a second thought. If you feel, and I mean woman's intuition, that IAW is the way to go then go there, but not over safety and a nice balcony because White Sands covers all that plus security at a very reasonable price, just sayin.

Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
White Sands is a lovely property...but we're getting close to apples & oranges between White Sands and Idle Awhile...
Jennifer...please go with your instinct for now, whether its Idle Awhile (which is well worth their price) or White Sands which has been mentioned here as a good place for solo travellers...
Choose what suits you for your first time travelling solo...you truly can't make a bad choice with any property that has been mentioned in this thread!

Thanks so much for the feedback. Making a decision this week... Still leaning towards IAW only because this is my first time in five visits that I will not be staying AI and may need to ease gently into it. LOL!

Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
If you do choose WS, I highly suggest staying on the garden side because their balconies are quite larger (which seems important to you) than the beach side. The beach side balconies can sometimes feel a lil cramped because of the room AC unit that's on the balcony. SO I think you'd be more than happy with the garden side balcony as compared to IAW. The real question is, do you care to wander every night for your dinner? I think that may be more important since, the restaurant at WS closes by 3pm (you can always get a drink there though since the bar is usually open til midnight).

Thank you so much for the info... I don't particularly care to wander for dinner to be honest. Or at least too far.... This was the other major factor for me in making my decision.

Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
Thank you ALL for every opinion, option, etc. I have made up my mind (finally!!!) and am going with IAW.
Since it is my first time travelling solo since I kicked the bum out, and being my first time at a non AI, I think I will feel more in my comfort zone at IAW.
That being said.... WS will be on my list for next years trip once my divorce money runs out and I can't afford $200 a night on a hotel. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
Will most def be making my way to the bar there during my trip. If anyone is there May 19-26 stop by and I will buy you a drink!!!
Thanks again ALL OF YOU!!!!

Ask Needle, the bartender, to make you a frozen mango colata. You'll love it!

Yeah, the first couple of times in Negril, I stayed at the Negril Beach Club Condos by myself and ate most meals onsite at Linguah By the Sea and then stayed at the AI, GrandPineapple (which actually woudn't be a bad idea for you, since it's small and intimate), so I understand what you're thinking. Staying at the GP opened my eyes though to what's available on the beach because it was next door to Alfreds, which had much better night life than the GP and started my way to exploring. After doing some checking, you can get into GP in May for $144/night on expedia on their beachside and get all your meals and booze included (they have great security too). Plus, it's next door to Alfreds, to start some exploring of your own... food for though....

Well dang it...there goes my commission......hahahahaha !!! Have a great time, and you will discover as most of us have, once you go non AI, you never go back !!!! :)
-
Re: HELP this newly divorced Couples Resorts only staying Jamaica loving female :)
I loved Grand Pineapple for my first solo stay, and second!

Appreciate the thought.. I honestly do not want to do AI though... Set me up with some patties and fruit from the vendors and some red stripes and dirty bananas and I am golden.

Meet the fruit guy walking the beach. He comes by daily. My wife would order what she wanted for the next day. She ate plenty of fresh mangos! They're so service oriented in JA, that he even sliced them up for her
