Glad thing seem to be better.. Rain will follow... Hopefully damage is less than expected and hopefully no injuries
Glad you are safe. Prayers for you all.
A few pictures from just outside our villa. Trees and debris everywhere and walkways are impassable. Some broken glass and water inside the villa.

Beth and Rob,
The onsite reporting was much appreciated!
Glad everyone in safe!!
VVHT
Thanks for the photos Beth.
Wow, thanks for the "boots on the ground" photos! Hopefully everyone is unharmed and now has a great story to tell. No major damage in my home away from home would be nice too.
Any updates? I know power is likely limited or out from my contact with others.
Rob…how did you fair?
Everyone is in our thoughts and we hope everyone made it through ok with minor damage.

I can’t speak for Rob but the only reason we have internet is because our resort has a backup generator but the majority of Jamaicans around us have lost power and internet. We have family members staying at our villa right now. The resort staff didn’t show up today which I understand completely. So we’re cooking for ourselves. Most Jamaicans around us are grateful there wasn’t more damage although I can’t speak for all. Here it is mostly downed trees and wires.
Rob is without current etc. at the moment along with most of Negril...unless of course you have a generator.
The beach road faired much better than the West End and everyone is working their butts off to get everything cleaned up & repaired as much and as soon as possible.
JPS (electricity) is claiming that they'll be working on restoring current starting tomorrow. Here's hoping!🤞
The guy from Traveller's did a very informative You Tube video from the property during the storm. At the time it showed very little damage, at least around his property, and a huge mess as expected. I'm hoping this applies to the rest of Negril, and the island in general. If it's only clean up and minor repairs, Jamaica, thankfully, dogged a huge bullet!
As bad as it is, I am soo relieved that it was not a second Gilbert! Hang in there Jamaica!
Winthrop Wellington is the guy from Travellers
Yup. I was considering cancelling my August trip. After watching his video I now feel confident keeping my plans.
I Never considered staying at Travelers since I'm not crazy about that end of the beach. He seemed like a really chill guy watching out for his guests. Traveler's is now on my list to try a stay. I'll be there next month at Idle and will at least have a few meals there.
Winthrop is a class act! Cares deeply for his family's hotel guests and all of Negril!
Jamaica Uncut has a video on youtube of him driving in to Negril and up the west end road to Rockhouse. A lot of trees and power lines down. Hope everyone is safe and the authorities get everything back up and running as soon as humanly possible.
BTW, Digicel is still down in Negril
Good to hear you weren't blown out to sea and Negril pulled through ok!
We have stayed at Travellers twice, third stay coming up in November. Love the management and staff there and that end of the beach is quieter and quite lovely. highly recommend trying it! They also have a nonprofit organization (NEET) that gives back a LOT to the community. Classes were held for kids during Covid so they would not fall behind in school. Great family
We've stayed at LTU on the West End for years, but on the beach we like Travelers for lunch and hang, Miss Lily's (Skylark) for lunch and Sun Beach just to hang. Also coconut pie and coffee at Kuyaba. When Winthrop drove past LTU I was thrilled to hear him say it looked to be in good shape.
Getting reports this morning that more power has come back on in the Negril area. The roundabout area and Red Ground. I'm not there so it is second hand news, but it would be interesting to know the extent of the improvements if these reports are indeed true.
M&M
Current came back on the West End last night. I would assume Red Ground and downtown came on earlier as that was where JPS was concentrating it's efforts yesterday early afternoon.
Rob,
That is great news!!!
Thanks,
VVHT aka Happy
