Are you a cliff jumper PG or do you just spectate?
I am not a jumper, did it at Rick,s back in 89, so now I am good, my older son started around 5 and still loves to jump, and the one with me first jumped at 4. Must get that from there mother.
So some sad news today about Alfred, I have rode with him before, he was a great guy and will be missed by many. I also recieved word from home a friend from the pool business there passed from a heartattack, gees.
So after breakfast this morning I took the kids down to the beach here, there is a powder white sand beach here, but with the winds the waves were crashing in, they had a blast out in the waves with a big tube we brought!
Oh man I got fried today too!
This afternoon after some asking around, I found out one of the fishermen from the beach is the local tire repair dude as well.
So drove into Duncans Bay where I dropped the flat tire off with Newel, then headed over to Chen,s market to pick up a few things to drop off at the villa.
Made the trip back and the tire was good to go, wow was a really busy place, good to be a tire guy in Ja. for sure.
So he asks you want me to put it on the car?
I said sure why not if its not too much trouble.
I could do it myself no big deal, but I am on vacation.lol
Anyway $500 later, the tire is fixed and Newel tells me it already had three patchs on it! Told ya the tire business is good here!
So while I was escaped from the family I took a ride down to Time and Place for a couple Redstripes, then into Falmouth, took a walk around. The big monster cruise ship was in plus a smaller one, as when I walked arounfd town I was the only tourist they musta been getting ready to head out.
It was really jammed up with people as I believe it was market day.
So I busted outa there after a few pictures and headed back to the villa.
I had our cook grill up jerk chicken, rice and peas, salad and fresh veggies! It was as good as I have had anywhere!
So I am gonna finish my bottle of wine and shower and head down to see the guys at the Green Dolphin!
So the Green Dolphin it was!
I found a new drink, mix of hot Dragon and Nitro!
Anyway there was a couple guys there that wanted to go to the club, one speaks some english, and the other only German, so you the conversation , they ask me if I want to go, "what are you scared" No I am not scared I reply, but dont want to be out too late!
So he says we will be back around !:00 with a thick accent.
This guy practically lives here and seems to know everyone over here.
So I guess i am in for this road trip, they send an extra guy to keep an eye on us, make sure we dont get in trouble. lol
We ended up stopping at a few spots and the ring leader went in to check out the action,if any.
This one place was in Discovery bay right by the bauxite docks, looked pretty cool at night.
So we ended up in Runaway Bay at the club that had been talked about.
So this was an interesting joint, we hung out and had drinks, and watched the action, there was a barber shop, next over, that was interesting, and a bar food joint on the other side.
As the night was getting late, one of the guys we were with, told me there was starting to be more bad men showing up, so we gathered up the crew and hit the road.
The club was called the Truck Stop, when I heard this, my inside voice said "ruh ro"
Anyway I gave the driver $1000 for gas, he never asked but I felt it was right.
They dropped me off right at the driveway. i offered to walk from the gate but they would not allow it.
I am telling you there are some really great people here, that will do there best for you to enjoy yourself and stay outa trouble.
One thing over here is you dont see the mix of tourists like in Negril, in the clubs and joints.
^^^Sounds like a cool nite hanging with locals!!-Thats what i'm talking about!!:DMuch Respect PWG!!
It was an interesting night to say the least, going to try for some pictures later.
Boom...awesome report PGW! I love how you roll. Have you ever been to LeRoy's at night? Any cool spots in Belmont area you'd recommend?
I looked for an "Ice Lawn Sports Bar" but never found it...
^^^I agree with ya brasi!!!-PGW Rolls is with the flow!_Red Stipe LOVES when PGW hits the rock too!!
Leroy,s is a saturday night place, Leroys band, The Silver Lights band plays, and it get really busy, other nights maybe a few at the bar. Yesterday was a beach day, the kids played in the waves all morning.
Then returned to the pool and they swam most of the afternoon,(I think I snuck in a nap, lol)
They had a welcome party here last night with a balance guy, fire eater, and limbo.
Everyone was tired after that so we headed back.
Was talking to the owner of the management company here, really interesting, I think he was getting tired of all my questions, but found out a lot I wanted to know.
Like the government owns Silversands? had no idea.
That huge developement Harmony Cove is getting back on track
, as the chinese are getting involved.
Oh and I kind of made plans to run the 10 k. in the Reggae Marathon next dec. I kinda decided I want to try this when I was there last dec., but the only training that I did was twelve ounce curls! lol
Anyway a walk down to the Green Dolphin,Julet,s and Leroy,s and all only had a few customers each, watching tv!
They love there movies down here, so I had one Hot Dragon and headfed up the dark hill back to bed.
I almost thought about driving to Mobay to Margaritaville for ladies night! But was smart enough to pass on it.
We were thinking of day trip to Port Antonio, but its too far for the kids to ride. So we might go to Dunn,s River, Or Braco stables horseback riding, not sure yet.
There is also this new pirate boat dinner cruise, talked to a couple people that went and said it was really good.
It leaves from the Falmouth pier,$90 adult, kids free,$5 port fee each, open bar, buffet food.
You could make some small stops to Port A.Theres a local beach that we had fun hanging out,I forgot the name of it.Its pass the "boathouse" up in the hills.I can make a call and get the name of the beach. Its just outside Ochie. Its a free beach.Has a cool bar on da beach. We had fun up in Mango Valley playing in the river with locals, while they was doing there washing and cooking breadfruit on the banks of the small river.Theres a big rock you can jump off of enjoy the water falls its a safe place for kids not to worry about a strong current.Next reach we WILL hit a Port a road trip.I have seen many many pics from *vi* she smart around that area.I can make a call for and get direction to the beach if you want me to.I have a GREAT fren that hangs out at Chrisanns Beach Resort out side Ochie. He lives up in Mango Valley~Let me know PGW~Much Respect to ya!!
If you have it in the budget Mystic Mountain was one of the most fun things we did over on that side.
The jamaican bobsled is so much fun, they have ziplining too, and a really nice infinity pool with a tall curly slide going down into it. With a bar, restaurant, gift shop, you could spend all day there. We had a lot of fun. It is in Ochi not far from Dunns River
poolguy, you are a five minute walk to ja jewel's place (cher's) . . . walk over and say hallo to cher and barry g, good ppl . . . different vibe . . .
I have been to Chers place many times, walk by there every morning on my walk. I have got to know quite a few people around here as this is the fourth year we have stayed in Silversands.
So as it went yesterday, started with along walk around the neighbourhood. We had breakfast and packed the car for a day trip. So after a little research I found out there are no cruise ships on friday in Ocho Rio so that makes a good day for Dunn,s river falls. My two kids here have not done that one before, anyway it was a good day as it was not really busy.
This is still a nice trip even though its so touristy now.
The first time I was here was in 1989 and it was pretty rustic.
So the kids climbed the falls with mom, while I lugged the towels and took lots of pictures and video.
They made me pay the entry fee even though I never clombed the falls, I tried to get out of it but not a chance.
Oh and if you go you need water shoes, or they make you rent them for $7.
We used to bring water shoes for everyone and almost never used them,oh well so it goes.
After we cleared out of there and passed on the $40 personalized dvd, we headed into Ocho Rio we were looking for a place to eat after cruising through the whole town, the traffic was bad and stupid one way streets! The kids were asking for Burger King again, but no way.
So I remembered there is a Scotchies just outside of town!
They still cook the chicken on the wood with the zinc sheets over top!
Its as good of jerk chicken as there is!
and on friday they have conch soup as well, jerk chicken, conch soup, and festival! Great lunch!
Back to the villa for a late afternoon swim and a couple cold Redstripes.
Then I headed down to Leroy,s for a beer, and ran into four whit ladies just leaving, the driver rolls down the window and says you look familliar?
Anyway she stays in Negril for parts of the winter, and we crossed paths on Facebook before, only in Jamaica!
So after talking with them for a bit, they were on there way back to Negril, I head into Leroy,s.
Chin is standing at the bar, she used to work here, but rented a cart on the cruiseship pier.
Was great talking to her she said her and her partner are doing well selling drinks there.
So she told me they opened a new Margaritaville right on the pier.
They plan on opening it up to the public at some point, the pier and margaritaville that is.
Anyway she said maybe on tuesday she can get me on to the pier!
So i head back up for dinner late as usual, chicken lasagna! mmm We always have the cooks make this while we stay here.
The kids are excited to get to the crab races, so off we head, well they went while I showered, late as usual I am again!
Had thoughts of going to Pier 1 in Mobay, but was tired and just couldnt get moving, early bed this night!
Thanks for the report!!!-Theres a GREAT jerk shop outside Ochie its across the road from Chrisanns. Its just pass Glenn's by the 2 grocery stores. Its call Jerk center its owned by a VERY nice lady named Samatha.Good box lunch and soups too.Red Stripe is cheap and COLD!!!~Bless!!
So St. Paricks day saturday!
OK what to do, the day started off as usual with a walk though the neighbourhood, followed by breakfast.
Then a trip to the beach with the kids.
WE had decide a plan for later, and have been in Negril the last three St. Patricks days, so we were thinking of Canoe and Seastar, but also had to factor in the two hour drive each way!
We also were looking at a new attraction from Falmouth, The Galleons of Captain Hook its a pirate ship dinner show.
The kids wanted to do the pirate thing and we agreed that we could due without the "are we there yet" every fifteen minutes from the back seat.
So off we went to the Falmouth pier to get on the pirate ship.
It was pretty cool ship along with all the pirates in full costume.
So they put on a great show along with those dumb contests dancing and the pirate acts, including tyheenemy ship coming up out of the night for a gun battle, and sword fight!
The drinks flowed freely, and it inluded a steak and chicken dinner, yews I said steak!
We agreed it might have been the best steak we ever had? In Jamaica? Really! Anywhere!
My daughter was scared to death when the other ship first pulled alongside, lol
So we had a great time and returned around ten.
I bolted back out down the hill to Leroys for more St. Pattys day festivities!
Dragon Stout being the beverage of choice!
Ended up staying down there really late, until the end!
Oh here is something weird, when we were eating dinner on the ship, ends up that the people the next table over live in our neighbourhood at home, like right down the street!
I here the call of Negril, ande Seasplash! Not sure about the drive, we will see.
Must be getting down to the last part of the trip,as the activity level has dropped off drastically!
It didnt help feeling the effects of a really late saturday night.
Pretty much after breakfast, just relaxed by the pool, thought seriously of heading over to Negril, and the show at Seasplash, except we were almost out of food, and the local market was closed as its sunday.
So after some left over chicken lasagna, I made the trip to Ironshore, to Progressive foods for some supplies.
Topped up with fuel and changed some money, and back I head.
It was fun seeing all the busses coming from the airport with loads of new tourists, and how they stop at the drivers favourite spots for the first Redstripes.
I wanted to stop, and say welcome to Jamaicva mon! lol
Anyway unloaded the supplies so our cook could make us dinner (garlic shrimp, steamed veggies, and salad!)
Went down and had a few beers with the guys at the beach.
And got a copy of a cd I heard the other night, really rude and crude, lol, its for my 15 yr. old son he likes that stuff.
Anyway back for dinner then crashed on the couch, it was like I was paralized or something, just finished!
Only a couple more days and were done!
Maybe I will go check airfare for the boardie bash now? lol

So what are your April dates poolguy?
See, PGW?
My Gang is tough....don't mess with us! We WILL make you book!
"Go ahead, make our day"....and yours, by booking!!!
Hahahahahaha
*evil laugh!
...patiently waiting, thumping fist...mad look on my face...trying to act intimidating...LOL...
WAIT. If PGW books there will almost CERTAINLY be a Red Stripe shortage that week.
<shudder>
Lol
RElax mon, I am still on the island,I am sure there is some kind of rule against booking while your still here!
No rule at all!
I have done it before and it is perfect.....makes leaving easier!
Ok, here is what happened on the frist night in Negril, you know the one when you try to do everything in one night!
So I ended up in a van going to Scrubadud with the crew from Seasplash,Jim and Ted being the ringleaders of course!
So I end up talking to this extremely classy hot girl there!
So I was telling her how my phone credit went stale and I need to get a $100 phone card to free it up.
So she says can I see it? Sure, I say, she messes with it for a few minutes and gives it back, no problem!
Next morning! Phone rings? Dont know the number? It rings again, and again, and again!
I keep deleting and then find the text messages!
"Hi I miss you when can I see you again?" something like that and multiple variations of it!
So after no lie the thing ringing all day and keep on telling the wife there is no one on the other end, I finally get a phone card, and the first thing I do is call the number, "oh hey are you avoiding me, I have been waiting to here from you!"
Any way i ask, what was your name again? OK well I told you I was here with my wife, so why are you calling and please dont call anymore!
She says "oh I am sorry I didnt mean to get you in trouble."
WTF Anyway she says are you coming back to the club to see me?
I say, I have no idea maybe. looking back maybe the wrong answer!
So, ok that problem fixed?
Next morning at the beach, I decide to go for a walk, no problem mon!
Until I get back! "your girlfriend called!"
RUH RO and sent a text, she misses you!
Well that kinda ruined my late night fun for a couple days!!!! And of course I heard the: Hope you dont plan on coming by yourself, EVER! again!
Now that was a long time ago like 2 weeks, so when we get back I will see how it goes when I ask! and yes I already was checking flights. lol
So I told you about Oneil that drives me in Negril, ends up he knows her as he drives from there a lot, and he told me he had to block her number because she was calling him nonstop asking if I was coming back to see her! Crazy, phsyco
By the way yesterday was a beach day with kids and was fun and relaxing until in the afternoon. My stomach felt like it was in a knott, and it kept getting worse, even Redstripe didnt seem to help!
Any way never made it to dinner must have got a little food poisoning, I was really sick last night, but pretty much am recovered for our last full day!
We were talking about extending, but school, work and all those things always get in the way!
pool guy--surprised you don't know that one--never hand your phone over to anyone:) I had a similar situation before with a guy that wanted to check out my phone and I didn't use common sense, just handed it over. It was a loaner phone from a car service in JA so when I left whoever inherited the phone got my stalker.
You have had a good run of trips-- lucky you! Thanks for the pics and updates--all very much appreciated especially when I can't get there myself.
But she had shuch a pretty smile :)
Hubby and I rented a phone last trip and it kept ringing during the night and waking us up. Also tons of texts every day that were not for us. We are just going to go phoneless the next trip. If someone from home needs us they can email or call the hotel.
Ya mon, we buy a package from fido, no prob mon. thought i picked up a bug, turns out it was just an ulcer, doc said no more JB for me, mostly its all the aleve, and celebrex, i was taking for my knees. bring back more sunshine, see ya next time, Cheers!
WEll its time to pack up and head home!
Yesterday was another relatively quiet day as things have become somewhat routine.
Morning walk, breakfast, beach, lunch, pool, afternoon trip to the beach bars, dinner, and a few drinks, and out!
Picked up a couple souveniers for the kids yesterday.
The only complaint I have is the bug bite situation! I always have this problem, although the last couple trips I had it down pretty good with very few bites, not the case espeacially the last couple days, must be being attacked in my sleep!
Anyway one last walk, one last swim, onelast breakfast than its off to the airport.
Have more pictures to add later!
