Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Thats awesome Clarity.....
August is HOT and HUMID and slow .....Lots of shops/vendors closed down for slow season..(with exception of ATI week-) but you still have the wonderful beach and cliffs to jump into and cool off-and hey your in Jam...what more you need.
I would take the JUTA..its a piece of cake-8 hrs too long to be hangin out at MBJ (even with the new fancy lounge area they have) I'd get a head start and maybe have some kind of lunch/dinner planned out for when your family gets there...
Or take Clives-I've used them many times- a little more $$$ but like Gerry said if your the only one-off you go...
and yes ,it raiins a little bit each afternoon-but its lovely ,warm, tropical rain that does not last long...
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
WELL ALRIGHTY!!!!!
That is good...I got goosebumps reading that you will be there with your family!!!!
That's how I booked in April...went down on American and came back on Airtran...saved like $300!!!
August is HOT, especially towards the middle and end. I have been twice and vowed to never go back in August, just too hot for me!!! (NOTE: but after this hot weather we been having the the Washington, D.C. area I might reconsider!!!). But you are in Jamaica and on Vacation so slap on some sunscreen and a big hat and ENJOY you time with your family!!!
I personally would not wait for them at the Airport, unless you have someone meet you and take you around Montego Bay on a mini tour, I would go on to Negril and get settled and have things set up for them once they arrive.
Have fun hun!!!

Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
So what were your dates as I am in Negril aug 2nd til 12th, and keep missing you?
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Hey girl! I am using my data with Gary fussing at me cause we're camping, but I had to let you know how happy I am for you! This is going to be so special for you and I can't wait to hear about it! Just know a piece of all out hearts will be with you!!! :)
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Juts negril will do a one way for 18, we've done it many times and never had to wait long. As far as August, you can get some heavy duty rain at times, but like all other days in negril, it comes and goes.
Good tip about the one way tickets. We just moved to the bay area and had shell shock When looking at fares. I'll be anxious to hear how that works out.
And lastly, congratulations. A bad day in negril is better than a good day at work!
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
If you decide to wait, you can always head to Doctors Cave Beach. There is a small fee to get in but you can always chill there and catch a nap under a shade tree.
If you tell us your arrival date there might be somebody else arriving your day that can share a ride with you. I've taken Juta many times and for me it has been hit or miss. More hits then miss but it's that miss that you don't want happening....waiting forever for the bus to fill up. Still very convenient and affordable.

I'm SO jealous !!! Be carefull with your little Baby bump! XOXO
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
This is great Clarity! I go in the summer all the time and you do get the summer rain but its relaxing, refreshing and it cools things down a bit and only last a short time. I knew in your last TR when you said you wont be back for a few years that was not going to happen.;) So happy for you!!! I fly out tomorrow for the 50th independance weekend for a week. Glad you will be back soon!!!
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Getting closer to leaving, pack and go are next. Water shoes too. Or were they on when the sea urchin spines ended up in your foot?
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Baby Bump? Oh come on Clarity you can tell us, lol. :p

Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
Good for you on being able to go with your family. I am still trying to talk mine into going.... although I did take my daughter once and that is where she honeymooned a couple years ago.
I ALWAYS travel alone but I can appreciate your apprehension at doing something different that what you have become accustomed to. Clives is always a good way to go. Chances are if you do have to share, it will be with someone who arrives at or close to the same time as you. If you decide to take the JUTA bus, you make have to wait a little to fill up but I have never waited too long and I always meet the most interesting people. Often, since it's just me, I get to sit up front with the driver which is a nice view.
Either way you go, you can't go wrong! :) ENJOY!!!!!

Thanks Eden, Wpyogi, Flipadelphia, Tizzy, Irieworld, Suzengrace, Luvsdaisland, Garysteph, Thatwhatsheaid, Jamerican71, Pretty40, JimDonna, IrieLuv, Spottycatz, Sweetsue for your advice and kind comments!! I'm so excited! It's right around the corner now! I know it's going to be HOT HOT HOT though and our rooms don't have AC. I figure if worst comes to worst, we'll sleep outside on the daybeds.
PGW – Unfortunately we're going to miss eachother...AGAIN! I'm flying out after you return to the states. Someday we're going to meet in person in Jamaica, I just know it!
Jim-Donna- No baby bump yet. lol! Soon come though.. You know that I'll be posting sonogram pictures here on Negril.com when it happens. You all will be the first to know. So great meeting you both in April, I have some great footage of you all dancing at Tawnee's Birthday bash @ Seastar, I'll share the link once I upload it. I hope we see eachother again!
Thanks so much everyone! My Mom, my father and my sisters are so excited about this trip! It's all we can talk about! I still can't believe it's happening!:)
We're definitely going to go to Seastar for the Saturday night show and we'll be taking a day trip to Mandeville. Any other suggestions for family friendly activities to do in Negril? My youngest sister is only 17, so Alfreds, Roots bamboo and The Jungle are out of the question for us. My mother loves to dance though.

Hi Daisy!
How about Mayfield Falls? It's such a beautiful place, and really perfect for the whole family. I just love it there!
Re: Holy Smokes! I'm going back to Negril!
I've been wanting to post on here for days about how truly happy I am for you to be able to take this trip with your family, but I just couldn't think of a way to say it without sounding absolutely corny, seeing that I don't know you :o.
So I decided just to do it anyway, corny or not!
Following your trip reports is like reading a really good book where you connect with the "characters" and can see, hear, and feel what is happening.
I can hardly wait for you to go, experience, and get back so I can read all about it.
Cherish this time with your family and I hope this trip is everything that your family wants it to be.
