We have those in the southern US as well. Was trying to go to sleep the other night and felt something crawling on my chest. Pulled back the covers and found one of those on me.
Flung it across the room in terror, then had to figure out where it landed and dispatch it with a shoe. Took me a while to get back to sleep.
For anyone with children, make sure that before they get into bed you give them a quick shower and shake out the sheets. I found that you can bring home the sand fleas if you have any sand on you. This is only MHO.
now we need a "hustler" cream or repellant....lol
we knew of a woman who hid down behind one of the walls that runs along W End Rd. during a torrential downpour,
and the water drove a "ka-zillian" legged creature out of a crack in the wall....it stung her just behind the ear....
her friend told us two days later she was sent back on a earlier flight for Aid, all swollen and in Pain.........please be careful , more so if you dont know the "lay of the land"
