Just wondering? How many times have you gone?

We stopped counting around 60 reaches several years back. We started going together in 1995 at approximately 3 times a year for 10-14 days at a time. 1 time we stayed for a month at Point Village when Hurricane Dean hit. My husband has 13 more trips than me. So now we live in FL and can go for long weekends, etc and have a current trip booked for February. Negril is paradise to us. We have tried numerous other islands in between trips to Negril but we always miss the culture, food, music and relaxed atmosphere of Jamaica. One Love:cool:

I wracking my brain trying to remember the owners name. I can see him but I just can't remember.

I spent a lot of time in there. We'd come to Negril for the market and Miss G and Miss Izel would go shop with the jeep and I'd hang out there.

Sittin up on the platform around the pole. John Kennedy's picture right behind the bar......I used to drink the Jamaican martini which was "wine and gin" Red Barrel wine and Gordon's London Gin. (London gin ain't your American style gin) I always figured it was the equivalent of white rum but made from Juniper berries. And after the first couple of sips it starts tasting just fine.

5th trip this coming April. First trip in 2004 for my brother's wedding. Trip #5 will be for our daughter's wedding!

This will be our 20th trip to Negril all at Tensing Pen. Arriving November 15th.

54 or more.....kinda lost track but having been going since 1983, first 40 or so to Tensing Pen ....when there were only 6 cottages.....will be at Sea Star Nov 2....whoo hoo

Every year since 1999...sometimes twice in a year. Trip #15 coming up in February...and of course, always Negril :)

My next arrival 1/30/13-3/6/13 in Negril (the cliffs) will be the 21st year for my.

Went the first time to Negril in 83 and went 8 or 9 times till 94, then I took 15 years off (moved to the west coast). Finally convinced the gf to come with me to Negril and returned in 2009 and have been back every year since, she is now hooked also. She had actually been to Jamaica once before in 1985 to Montego Bay, so for her it was 24 years between trips to JA but she does love Negril now.

It was surprising how Negril had changed and not changed in the 15 years between trips. It is definitely busier with way more people and places but what I had loved about Negril in my youth, the people and just the interaction with people, that stayed the same. That's what keeps us all going back, again and again.

Mi Lady and I have been reaching for the island since 1991. We used to take other vacations, until Jamaica became an obsession. We have been going since before the Holiday Inn - Montego Bay was the Sunspree and the T-Water was still a hotel.

This December's trip will be the fourth this year and our 18th overall. The first was to the Holiday Inn in Montego Bay for our honeymoon. We didn't know any better. We took a day trip to Negril that reach and haven't looked back since. That was before Margaritaville and we were dropped off at the Negril Treehouse. The next two were at the T-Water. I'm already planning next years trips and we have 2 more to go this year! People ask us why we don't go somewhere else. Once you go, you know....

Not near enough! :rolleyes: First trip was in 1986 and then I didn't get back for a long time. This trip will be my 6th I think, but only my 2nd to Negril. Can't wait!

Weathermon, I think most of us regulars have to field that "why don't you go somewhere else" question. My response is always the same. "You don't understand, I'm not going on vacation. I'm going home." On my very first trip I felt it keenly but didn't understand what it was, but it drew me back time and again until it became clear. Then when I met Donna here in Mpls., she's originally from St. Mary, it became all the more real. When we go to Jamaica, we are going home.

17 trips to Negril since 1996 for me...10 trips since 2003 for my wife.

We did 3 day trip visits via cruise ships and this coming November will be our 3rd extended trip.

38 for me, and never stayed in Negril. Only ever passed through taking friends to Ricks. I always found it to be stressful, busy busy on the beach with people hustling every few steps.I suppose because I often travel solo its out of my comfort zone Lurking here reading trip reports and seeing so many solo travelers I'm thinking I've been a little judgemental or perhaps scared of the unknown and need to spend a little time checking this area out.
Trelawny is my favourite parish its like a comfy old sweatshirt.

My memory is a bit hazy, but I think I've been at least twice ...

20 with many more hopefully to come..

I was wondering but never counted my Passport stamps, 19 for me, December will be# 20... Wow, don't even want to think how much that could have paid down my mortgage.(Damn house"... You only live once, don't want to say "I should have" when I'm in my rocking chair.

My wife and I made the first trip in 2004.
We went back in 2005,2006 and 2007.
We will be back in Feb 2013 for trip #5.
It's been a long time coming that's for sure!

Wow, it is no wonder so much good info comes out of the board with all this collective experience to draw from.
I am such a newbie - first time in 2011 - I am so excited for trip #2! Once you go, you do know...

45 for me - last 10 to Negril

All I can say is WOW! I can only hope that one day we will have "lost count" of how many times we have been.
We just got back last week from trip #3 and will be taking trip #4 in November to get married.
I have no desire to back to any of the other islands we have visited since visiting Negril.

First visit - 1985. Made 6 trips before seriously considering moving to Jamaica, then made nearly 20 trips in a 3 year time span to work out the details - add a few more trips before my last one in 2000 - so it has been probably around 30 trips in total...

40 years ( missed 1980). bout 50 times

First trip was honeymoon in 1982, went twice a couple of years and skipped 1992-95, but total now stands at 26 trips for me and 25 for Cindy.
