Nothing like riding in with Chicken, then SeaStar and Eddie's before hitting the pillow? Well done. Went to Just Natural after the Boardie Bash because my ankles were cankles. Theresa detoxed me with an aloe shot and some celery juice. Then after we chatted for a while she insisted on giving me a foot massage. "On the house!" she insisted when I hedged about time and so forth. She fixed me up right, of course I wasn't going to accept it gratis. Throw in a memorable and completely comfortable and natural sex talk and you have one of those truly unique Jamaican experiences. Very special ladies. Please continue...
Guirigay!! This trip was an experience, to say the least! Yes, cankles, LOL, Mr. Doppelganger had a severe case. Those special ladies have an eye for cankles. I have been tossing aloe in my green smoothies at home for some time now, but now Mr. D gets it too! LOL, you got me snorting with the sex talk comment. Our conversation with Christine did turn in that direction as well. Hmmmmm, are we talking about another kind of blood circulation now?? I agree, a truly unique Jamaican experience:)

Loved your rain dribbling off the roof shot at Sunnyside, great composition. Just makes me feel warm and refreshed looking out at the beach.
Guirigay, I know you're solid, but this just about knocked me out of my cubicle laughing!
Sure thing! Yes, the new place is obviously not as convenient as walking across the street. It just takes a bit more motivation. And a visit with those ladies is all the motivation I need.
Yes, that picture! I am no master photographer like some of the fantastic peeps on this board, but occasionally I get a good one. I remember sitting there in a pile of sweat. It was HOT. The rain came and cooled it off just enough. So refreshing.

You have me through all the emotions again. I am so glad you and +1 went on this trip, it sounds (at least so far) like it was everything it needed to be for you both! I remember you telling me back in the summer of the loss of your dogs. That is so hard, they are truly like family.
And I have to admit, just reading your story at Just Natural brought tears to my eyes
Keep it coming....loving this so far
P.S. Chicken is the man! So happy you got to spend time with him again and you said something about him that I always find to be true as well. Everywhere you go people know and respect him and you get treated that way as well. I remember that was one of the first things I ever noticed about him. I came out of the airport once and all of the taxi guys started yelling "Hey need taxi?" and I just said Chicken and then they all stopped and turned and said "Oh, Chicken is right over here I will show you"
Anyways, continue on, love the report, love the photos! Can't wait to see you guys again in April!
AWWWWWWW, thanks Marley! That means a lot coming from you:) I am glad I made someone else cry b/c I was bawling when I wrote it, hahahahaah;) I can't wait for April either. Only 6 months away! And I definitely need a do over at Catcha. Don't get me wrong, it was absolutely wonderful. I just didn't get to sit in that hot tub or cliff jump!

Ok, where was I? Oh yeah, day drinking!
The rain stopped and we went for a long swim. With beer of course!
Attachment 18909
I happened to be wearing a skimpy Miller High Life bikini (thanks TIZZ!!!) which is quite out of character for me, but hey I'm in Jamaica! +1 apparently likey because what ensued was a creeper stalker husband photo shoot. I will spare you all the inappropriate evidence.
A look back at the Sunnyside bar from the sea.
Attachment 18910
We say our goodbyes to Maureen and head down the beach (we are actually rolling at this point) to stop tree. Tony's Hut. I am hoping Grace is there! Along the way I buy some fruit - pineapple, banana, mango and sugar cane.
Attachment 18911
We arrive and my volume is turned up to 11 by now. GRACE!! Big hug and I give her my ipod to crank up some Beres. We had a long conversation about Beres in April but she didn't have any of his tunes on her ipod and I didn't have mine with. Another redstripe please!
Attachment 18912
I start passing the fruit out at the bar for everyone to share. A big shout out to Clarity - thanks for that post about sugar cane because I knew exactly what to do with it! A rasta shows up and I have a long conversation with him about life. It's already been an intense day for me so he has me in tears pretty quickly. (and it had nothing to do with my BAC level at this point, lol) Another heartfelt experience.
Sunset comes and it's time for another swim.
Attachment 18913
And then........OMFG is that ME BEHIND the bar in my binkini!!?????!!!!! Oh yeah, i had a mango to eat and I needed a knife:)

Isn't DJ a great bartender? Aren't those mountain pepper shrimp the greatest? Love me some KUYABA!

DJ is definitely on my favorites list! Someone posted about the pepper shrimp recently.....i forget who. Thanks whoever for the reminder because I HAD to get me some right away! So good! But I must say, not as spicy this time. My tolerance must be increasing, HA! Double thumbs up for Kuyaba! I love to sit at the bar and stare off into the ocean.

It was time to high tail it out to the beach road to catch a cab. We are supposed to be meeting peeps at Seastar party. We made the reservations and we are going to be late…rude! Back at the Seastar the beach crazed drunks show up and accost a perfectly pleasant couple – Coco and hubby. They are the sweetest couple and I feel a bit embarrassed about the first impression we gave them:o
My maiden voyage at the Seastar show did not disappoint. The food and the entertainment are outstanding. We must have been full because according to our tab, we only had tree red stripes and a dirty banana during the entire show. Filled with liquid courage and all shyness aside, I had a great chat with Rob. +1 and I even got our white man’s groove on. We closed ‘er on down that night. Operation mind erase day 2 complete.

Wpyogi - I'm absolutely loving your trip report so far! That view of Sunnyside bar from the water brings back great memories of that really fun day back in April. I really miss Maureen and Robert!
Coco & Hubby are truly wonderful, I agree! :o
Don't feel bad about being late. You're just running on Negril time. I don't think we made it to any event exactly on time. It's really hard!

Re: Trip Report - Saying Goodbye and Giving Thanks
When is anyone ever on time in Negril, just getting there eventually can be an acomplishment.

LOL. The 18 year old in me is what drives me most days. I am reading this trip report where I thought I spent most of the week with these guys and I am now truly realizing what I had missed. No worries though, when we were not with them we were having our own good times. Right Tiz
Really looking forward to the next installment......

It was soooooo NICE to see Robert and Maureen again! I absolutely LOVE those two, their smiles and their big hearts. We spent a few hours there each time we were on the beach. And yes, that was such a fun day in April - i remember it vividly:)

Re: Trip Report - Saying Goodbye and Giving Thanks
So, its a normal hop outta bed/shower/what can we do routine for me. +1 drags a bit, but is game for breakfast. We decide to wander down to the Seastar restaurant and order off the menu as we need a bit of fuel this morning. The lovely Clarol and Rene are working and it's so nice to hang and chat with them. I forget what +1 eats, but I had scrambled eggs, potatoes and cranberry tea that I brought from home. (it's supposed to be good for water retention associated with travel, lol. funny, the package didn't say anything about rum retention) The breakfast potatoes........yeah.........i'm pretty sure they were deep fried.........maybe even twice. Do yur job potatoes and soak up that alcohol!
After breakfast we fart around and eventually decide to hit the pool. Before you know it we are ordering drinks at the swim up bar and having a nice chat with a guy from Boston. 1130ish rolls around. It's time to head back to the room and throw 5lbs of $hit into a 2lb bag and officially check out. However, we don't leave right away. Back to the bar to watch some NFL! and maybe have a few more drinks. and maybe an order of chicken wings.
Attachment 18976
I forgot to mention the fabulous chats we had with Chris throughout our stay at Seastar. He is such a gracious host. +1 really chatted him up because he's Canadian. +1 luvs Canadians! I think he secretly wishes he was one. (and i secretly wish i was jamaican;))

Re: Trip Report - Saying Goodbye and Giving Thanks
Eventually we say our goodbyes to the most excellent Seastar staff and hop in a cab to Xtabi. Oh Xtabi. We set foot on the property and I feel a rush of comfort.
A little background. When we made the breakout of the AI move on our second Negril trip, we stayed a few nights at Le Mirage. I picked up some great info on the Negril.com board about Xtabi welcoming outside guests to snorkel/hang for the day, so that's what we did. After that day, I knew where we were staying next trip. That trip was April 2012.
Xtabi was running a fabulous special. 35% discount upon cash upfront! We made our way to Cottage #1. Drop our bags and deposit a few beers. I notice the TP and again feel right at home. You see so far, we had been using Sophie TP. NOTHING wrong with Sophie, but it just doesn't provide me with the warm fuzzy feeling that Cuddle does. How could you not love the bear?? AND it's baby powder scented. HA!!
Attachment 18977
We make a be-line to the bar to say hi to Omar and order up his infamous dirty banana with the overproof floater. Funny, that first sip isn't nearly as shocking as it once was. I must be stepping up to a more professional tolerance.
Another one of my mostest favoritest places in the world.

Here is a quick video of Xtabi bar and Omar's great taste in music. I am by no means a photographer or videographer. I just like to take them more for the audio. It immediately takes me back to the moment.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oH3zwLcrU8s
I noticed that day that Omar was playing a YouTube mix....something I started to discover before our trip. I asked him about it and he told me to check out DJ Chunny. I highly recommend throwing this on one evening while you are making dinner and such. It promises a smile.

vi - I love me some Beres! Very appropriate:) Music of all types and genres have always been a part of my everyday life. (although it's heavily if not almost all reggae/dancehall now, lol) And the music always changes with the mood. Your second comment really warms my heart. Thank you. I truly believe and try to live by the belief that every moment is a gift and our paths cross with others for a reason. If I bring smiles, it's only because they gifted me with smiles as well.

Awhile later I assumed the position on the deck. Not sure what +1 was doing. Anyway, I was staring into the sea having a quiet moment until I heard a ruckus. A whole lotta squawking. And no, it wasn't +1's mating call. It took me a bit to find the source.
Attachment 19084
A bunch of parrots flew in and were hanging out in the tree above our cottage. Ah ha moment! That's the source of the bird poo towards the far right side of the deck.
They were so cool to listen to....

One more shot off the deck because the colors are too cool.
Attachment 19085
We decided to keep the leisurely vibe going so we headed over to the restaurant for dinner. We even broke away from our normal spot at the bar and sat at a table! (if you know us well, you know we are bar flies when the kids aren't present)
I realize I've been in Negril for 48 hours now and still haven't had lobster, omg! My very first caribbean lobster. It's gonna be soooo good. But first....
Oh yeah. Liquid gold.
Attachment 19086
Omar recommended I have the lobster grilled.
Attachment 19087
It was de-lish. Well worth the past 3 trips wait (because we always come in april). Apparantly, I have another hankerin for some conch so I convince +1 to order the conch steak. De-lish conch.
***Ok, a little hilarious background behind the conch joke. Our very first trip to Negril, our very first night, we were staying at Breezes Grand Negril. A bit exhausted and a bit buzzed we hit the buffet party that night. I'm in line behind a beautiful 80-ish year young lady. She walks up to the grill master and says..."You got any conch? Because I've had a hankerin for conch ALL DAY!" Quote of the trip. And maybe my quote for life, LOL.***
As we were sitting enjoying dinner, the man at the table next to us started to chat us up. Turns out it was Dave - the owner. We had a very long conversation about life in and life away from Negril. After dinner, we continue chatting and order up another round. Overproof and ting for me. Heine for +1. Dave mentions that we are in for a ride with that hurricane a comin. WHAAAATTTTT???????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's no hurricane, i say. I checked the weather 2 days ago.
Nope. There's a hurricane 300 miles south of here heading straight north.
Gulp. Another rum please Omar!!
As we are sitting chatting, I am keeping my eye peeled for Omar the security guard. We had some amazing chats with him last trip and I can't wait to see him again. Eventually he appears on the far side of the bar. I give him the eagle eye. He asks bartender Omar, "who's that over there talking to dave?". Bartender Omar says, "you know, they were here a few months ago". Security guard Omar starts to laugh..."yes that's miss stefanie and sir d***!"
We eventually finish our drinks and hunt down Omar on our way back home. We ended up sitting on the concrete wall by the front gate for about an hour and chat with him. That man has the biggest heart and smile to go with it. We head home comforted knowing that Omar is watching over us. But a little nervous knowing what is coming our way....
I'm not sure what time we eventually crashed that night. I have no photographic evidence whatsoever...

Yes, waterproof. It takes some great pics if you have the right settings, of which I am still figuring out. Definitely fills the need for us as we are river rafting in the summer/skiing in the winter/trying to make it to Negril as much as $ affords...

OK, it's time to get back on this horse.
We were up bright and early this morning....even before the restaurant staff showed up for the day. I was a little eager to get online and check the weather, lol. So we sat on the main deck at Xtabi and had another chat with Omar.
Attachment 19271
Another beautiful, tranquil morning.....
Attachment 19273
We formulated our "there is a hurricane on the horizon attack plan" for the day. First item of importance is to snorkel a bit off our private platform. We grab our gear. I decide to half a$$ wade in from the lowest part of the platform. +1 does a cannonball launch as usual. As I am about to jump in, i see +1 swim fast for the ladder and he hollers my way to wait. Apparantly, when he was underwater, he pressed his mask to his face to take a look and discovers he jumped into a massive pile of Jellyfish!!! Whoops! Time for plan B.
It's a terrible picture, but there were hundreds of those little effers.
Attachment 19272
Plan B. We decide to head to the beach and find Captain John for a snorkel trip. We ran into him two days prior hanging around the Sunnyside bar. The thought is if there's a hurricane a comin, we better get out on a boat NOW. +1 was worried that we wouldn't remember what he looked like because we were into quite the overproof rum fog that day, but sure enough we find him right away. No hurries though, mon. We want to hang out at the Sunnyside bar for awhile before we go.
It's starting to look like rain...
