& I keep forgetting to mention that we saw CaptainD when we stopped at Seastar on the Pub Crawl. This is a working trip for him out at his property.

LOL - thanks for getting me my daily fix before you went back to bed! It's not that I'm up that early, we're an hour ahead don't forget
Enjoying your trip report very much. TY!
Love the trip report....
thanks....a great read while i snuggle under my duvet on a cold canadian afternoon.
Hope Captain is doing well. Such a great guy, along with his personable, genuine wife Miss G. Great couple indeed! Anxious to hear more West End Girl. Your posts are truly captivating and filling such a "Negril void" that I am experiencing right now. Ready and waiting for more............:)
lazy days are the best.... thanks for sharing
Okay. So, you know the first thing I did yday morning was to find the Detroit bashers! Come to find out, they are from the Detroit area! ......... I don't know if that's better or worse!? Lol
We went out a few minutes before noon to see Dan&Sue at Samsara yesterday. They weren't there when we arrived so we wandered around for a bit & ordered pink slushy drinks. After we finished our drinks, we went back to their cottage & Dan was on the porch reading & Sue was having a catnap. They'd gone for breakfast earlier & it took longer than expected. Apparently, they sent us a text at 12:15..... that came thru at dinner! A lot of Negril seemed to have no wifi yesterday for a while.
The sun was hot & the water much calmer than at our end of the cliffs. Linds & I were determined to swim off the cliffs at least once this trip! & we did!!! Thanks to Sue&Dan! They had 2 blow up floatie rings with mesh in the center to help give me a lil extra reassurance as I bobbed in the sea! We stayed in til our fingers were wrinkled. It was hot when we got out. It didn't take long til we jumped in the pool to cool. But, the pool was like bath water!
After a bit, we started to get hungry. We didn't want to butt in on their alone time. After all, they are here celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary this week! But, they said 'Come with us. The more the merrier!' Dan laughed & asked how long it'll take for 3 lovely ladies to get ready?! Lin & I only had what we were wearing so that made it easy! Sue was a quick change too!
We decided to have dinner on the beach at Idle Awhile. It is a beautiful setting. & the food was good. We took photos & ate & all checked our iPhones since we'd been out of wifi all day! The waiter laughed when he saw all of us with our heads down, focused on our phones! He brought that to a screeching halt with the delivery of pumpkin soup! Prolly the best pumpkin soup of the trip too! I had shrimp sun spree or something like that. I would order it again. The other 3 ordered fettucine.
Lin excused herself to the rest room. She took a while & when she came back she was white as a sheet. She'd only had a beer or two all day & we had eaten earlier. I think she just spent too much time in the sun. She wasn't burned but she had a headache like a migraine & it was making her nauseous. She tried to eat a lil thinking it would help, but it didn't and she ended up lying on a lounger while we finished our dinners.
When the cabbie came, Sue suggested they drop us off first since Lin was not doing any better. The ride from the beach to the cliffs always seems to take longer than I remember & I'm sure it was an eternity for Lin, trying not to toss her cookies with each turn last night!
Trooper she is! We made it home without incident! & then the dam broke! Poor thing. To make it worse, we had NO running water when we returned to BS. I used water from the frig for her cold compress. Marianne said they ordered a delivery from the water truck but that wasn't coming quick enough to help us at that point. She also made sure we knew if we needed anything they were here to help.
Our beds are upstairs so I brought the wastebasket up for her. Those stairs can be tricky to navigate in the dark on a good day! After a while, she settled down enough to sleep. An hour or so later I made her a PB sandwich & gave her a Motrin.
She just woke up & has a smile on her face today. Thank goodness!
I hung out on our upper deck last night. Not many stars, didn't want to read or write. Just sat there, sniffling. My allergies are bad here. Watery eyes & stuffy/runny nose. We bought Kleenex at the store when we arrived but went thru it already. I'm resorting to paper towel now! I don't have allergies like this at home & never experienced them here before either. Don't think it's a cold becauses I don't feel bad otherwise?
We go home tomorrow. We decided that 9 days was good! We had enough time to relax & recharge. But, we are ready to go back to being busy girls again!
I enjoyed swimming in the sea so much, I'd like to go back to Samsara again today!
Oh, the last full day! Trying to cram in all the food, drink(Ting!) & activity I can to last me another year!
I'm glad to hear she's feeling better, there is nothing worse than feeling ill on vacation. Sounds like you had a great trip, sorry it's over so soon. Looking forward to those pictures you promised when you get home :)
Awe... We had a great time...come on back to samsara.. It's early still!! We're at ciaos for a late lunch!!
Thanks, Nutz!
& to everyone else who has encouraged me to keep writing!
Another lazy morning. We decided to go to the beach at Wild Parrot. About noon we took a cab down........ Only to find it cloudy, which it wasn't on the cliffs. We had lunch. Lin had a club & I tried the delicious spicy fish tacos with tropical salsa. They were sweet, sour & a lil spicy! Yum-meee! By the time we were done the sun was peeking in & out. We decided to stay there for a bit & played in the surf. After, we took a walk down the beach. It looked like it might rain so we decided to catch a cab & head back up to the cliffs.
i wasn't joking when I said we try to cram everything in on the last day! So, we decided to stop for Jerk at 3 Dives. It was a lil after 3! But, as delicious as the food is, the wait is long! By the time it came I was hungry & antsy sitting on hard benches watching the time tick away......on our last day! We ordered extra to have for breakfast before we leave.
Cabs seemed like they were few & far between. So, we decided to start walking up to BS. Figured someone would stop on the way! It was nice to get a slower, more detailed perspective as we walked. The cloudiness from the beach was following us, which kept it cooler.
As we neared Pushcart we saw Lenbert on a Sunday Pub Crawl. I remembered reading that T & J were going to be on this one, so we stopped in to say hi! We talked to Lenbert & he tried to help us find T&J. Finally, I blurted out....'Is T&J here?!'
They were there! Right in front of me.....& a lil surprised to be 'paged' at Pushcart Negril! Pushcart is a cute lil place that we will try next time. The crawl was going to Belladonna's next, which I would like to try too. We met a lady from Belladonna's in the cab this morning. Too bad we don't have more time!
We had a quick chat at Pushcart & were on our way again! After Rockhouse, a cab stopped for us & took us the rest of the way. It feels good to walk, but the marriage proposals, while usually respectful, get tiresome after a while.
The water truck arrived shortly after we returned to BS! Yay! A shower! It felt won-der-ful! There was a party at our tiki hut but we'd messaged Dan&Sue & had already made plans to meet them at Catcha for a drink. We chatted with our neighbors for a few & then headed out.
We had a drink & delicious mocha cheesecake with our new friends & then it was time to say goodbye! Thank you Dan&Sue! (& Donna & Kurt who went home Saturday!) we enjoyed your company very much!
We walked back to BS. We went in & got ourselves situated, I poured a glass of wine & went to the tiki hut for a bit. Lets just say people were in various stages of party! & I was the most sober! I stayed a few & then went in to start packing up & then to bed. My 1 nostril is sill runny/stuffy & I woke up coughing at some point. Still think it's allergies though.
I set the alarm for 6 but woke at 4. Once I go down the treacherous stairs to use the bathroom it's hard for me to go back to sleep again. Besides, I will be up for work at 5am tomorrow, which is 4am here! :(
There were a lot of stars so I headed out to the cliffs & sat there watching night turn into day. The lighthouse was flashing & I could see a ship's lights in the distance. So beautiful, til the bugs intruded on me. I started scratching & decided to come in & write!
I'm glad I finally wrote a trip report. Linds & I had a wonderful time & I'm glad I captured it for us (& you!) We had a beautiful photo of us taken while we were here. I think I'm going to frame it for her & tuck a copy of this trip report behind it for her. If Lin & I had a dollar for every time someone on this trip said how much we resemble each other, we could afford another trip! We hear it at home but not like this!
Trip report photos soon come!
Speaking of soon come.....Kingsley is coming for us at 9am. Gonna finish packing now.........
Loved your trip report. Sorry to see it is time for you to go home.
Great report!
Thanks again so much for sharing this trip report. It was engaging and wonderfully written. I really loved reading it.
Thanks L! Enjoyed every minute, I can't believe it went so quickly. Hope you had a safe trip home...
It was fantastic meeting u ladies.... It made our trip! I hope to meet up again soon! This board is full of great peeps!
Nice picture!! West End Girl....you and your dawta are simply stunning! And yes, you guys look like sisters rather than mother and dawta. Only wish I could have been there too! LOL Good times for sure!
Thanks for posting photos, Dan&Sue! We miss your smiling faces!
Thanks, Yetta! It was a wonderful trip.
I woke up this morning thinking, a week ago today I was in Negril! We went to the beach.....3 Dives, Catcha....sigh. Each trip is fun & unique in its own way. But, it's the people we meet along the way that makes it the most memorable. Some you chat with for a memorable moment (that stays with you forever!) & others turn into wonderful friendships that spans miles & countries!
Lin & I are so blessed to have a great relationship & the chance to travel together like that. I'm so proud of her! She's teaching & living on her own now. We get along so well that instead of being relieved to have our own space back after the trip, we truly missed each other!
Good to see my boys & my cats though! The 21 year old did fine home alone. There was more food than beer in the frig! Both cats are fine & no damage seen with the naked eye! Thank you, Troy!
It has been rainy & grey every day we have been home. No ice like Dan&Sue though! 70 tomorrow... & more rain.
I know... April showers brings May flowers. But, the grey is killing me!
What I thought was allergies turned into a cold. Needless to say, I didn't set the world on fire last week! Lol Glad to be feeling much better. Well enough to see Bon Seger in concert last nite!
Trip photos soon come!
I enjoyed reading your trip report! My fiance and I will be checking into Banana Shout for a couple of nights next week before we head to CocoLaPalm for the remainder of our trip. I may have missed it if you wrote about it, but they don't do any kind of breakfast at BS, do they? I thought I read something a while back but maybe that was in-season. Is there coffee in the room or will I need to bring some (I know they have coffee pots there)? Any other tips? This is my 7th trip to Jamaica, so I'm not a newbie; just a newbie to Banana Shout. ;) Thanks!
Hi Sher,
We had no coffee pot in the room, but there is usually a pot or two in the morning served at the 'tiki hut'. No breakfast, but some units have a 2 burner hot plate. There is also a propane stove top in the tiki hut, which you could probably use if you wanted to. We debated buying a jar of peanut butter & a loaf of bread, but we were very happy we did! Perfect for breakfast or lunch with some fruit & we ended up finishing the lil jar in a week! lol We were very happy at BS! Enjoy!!!
Thanks, WestEndGirl! As long as I can grab coffee and start my day from my front porch (we are staying in Dolphin Bay) I will be happy! Last year we always had leftovers of jerk or whatever and it was nice to have a microwave at Catcha. I can probably make something work with the hot plate if need be, but probably won't ever use it! I just like to be prepared!!
Sher, It was actually a good thing for me to not have coffee so readily available every day. It sort of broke me of my all day long coffee addiction!
While we were there, Ashmon was carving the trunk of a tree(totem) that had come down. You'll get to see the finished product! I had him carve a mermaid for me & she is lovely.
We had a fantastic guided tour of Banana Shout...it was a very cute spot!!
Thanks, Dan & Sue! I need to post some of mine!
Thanks for the "Shout Out" from Negril. Nice pics and you guys look relaxed.
The above is my Karl Rickett's painting. It was upright when I posted it but..... ?!
Still looks good to me. I just turned mi laptop!! LOL Nice painting for sure!
Great trip repport. Thanks for sharing.
