Yes, we have flown many different airlines, with, and without layovers. After missing more than once connecting flight, my wife and I decided to do everything we can to get straight thru flights. But if it was a deal breaker, we would do lay overs as needed. We have stopped in Dallas, Houston, and Charlotte. I think Charlotte was one of the nicest airports to hang out in.

When booking about 2 months out it seems to me like Air Tran was the cheapest from MSP to MBJ with a connecting flight. Most of the non-stop flights were at least a few hundred more (x2 people). Are the non-stops from Sun Country and Delta lower if you book say 6 months out? Seems like they get crazy expensive when only a few seats are left.

I booked thru Delta last July, for Mar. 15-22 msp/mbj nonstop, $454 each, r/t.

Wow, that's about the best fare I've seen, stops or no stops.
