Manda, so sorry to hear about your dog. I wish I was going to be there at the same time as you but I will be there the week after. I too am going solo for the first time! I am very nervous but very excited at the same time. It would have been great to hang with another Canadian. Good luck with everything and just enjoy every moment of each day. I too am sure you won't be disappointed and you won't be alone unless you want to be!

Hey Manda,
I'll be checking into Catcha on the 28th, so you can swing by and have a drink with the wifey and I if you get bored. Just tell them that you are there for dinner and let out a big "BOOOOOOOOOOGER" when you reach Ivan's. My room is within ear shot, so all should be good. I believe you cannot come on property till 5PM, however it might be different with the slow season.

I just know you are going to have an awesome time! I have been to Negril four times, and all but the first was flying solo, and trust me, was never really alone unless I wanted to be. You will have a ball, trust me! :)

Kenje31- that's a shame we miss each other by a week :( It would have been great to hang with you :)
Booger - thanks! I will keep that in mind as it's now Thursday and still no word from Andre I had plans to have dinner at Ivan's the day I arrive but maybe I'll push it
to the 28th :)
Marko - Thank you.. I'm sure I'll enjoy every minute of that beach!
Negrilaholic - 3 times solo so it can't be all that bad! I know it's slow season so I was worried there wouldnt be many people around but after a drink I'm a social butterfly lol
Mainly a lot of my concern came from the budget that I've had planned out that has just turned completely upside down with the cost of paying for 3 more nights but I have to say with checking this site on a daily basis and reading all the trip reports religiously I feel like a lot of the properties are familiar to me :) I'm sure this will make my trip report that much more interesting to read through lol
Cheers everyone tomorrow is Friday and after Friday comes JAMAICA!

Manda81:
1. You are dreamy. (:
2. You will have a blast.
3. Andre is a total clown for doing this.
4. Did I mention you are dreamy?
I took my first solo trip in April, and had many of the same apprehensions as you do. Then I realized for the cost of one Red Stripe (my own) I could make friends anywhere! You face some additional challenges, but feel good about the slow season being on your side...there will be plenty of rooms available everywhere.
I know a few cool cats in town that watch my back when i go out, or take a ride 3 hours into the country (LOL), and I visited with them every time I've been in Jamaica since 2005. If you need some numbers, let me know.
I GUARANTEE you're going to have a blast. And btw: who am i going to email all day while you're gone???????????? :(

Manda81....I know everyone else has already told you you will be fine...but I need to put my two cents in too....YOU WILL BE MORE THAN FINE!!! Especially with Rob and Lisa guiding you along once you reach.
Once you arrive, your tension will melt away very quickly, I know I was stressed to the maximum and by day two, I was so relaxed.....
I was just there a couple of weeks ago, and though it is slow, there are still people about. If Andre doesnt surface (I would give him an earful one way or the other!), perhaps you can get R and L and recommend a place with a bar or restaurant on site, that way you won't need to worry about taxi's (budget in mind), and being out and about by yourself in the evening. White Sands comes to mind (standard room: $57 US from their website) because I stayed next door when I was there and I did notice that there was quite a few people staying there (ask Lisa about their Dirty Bananas!!!) There are other spots too, again, Rob and Lisa would be more experienced with recommendations.
I travel solo too, so I understand your apprehension, just breathe.....nice and slow....breathe again....everting gonna be alright.

Brasi! Numbers are great I like to have the safety net for sure and I'm sure you'll find someone to email all day .. Sleep tech ? lol you are dreamy too no worries ;) lmfao
Orchid - The more "I'll be fines I get the better!" it's slowly starting to take some of the apprehension away. I do have an address for Andre and at first thought I would
take a trip to tell him off. But why waste the money and my time in Jamaica lol If he doesnt surface at the airport in 2 days he's lost a great friend. And if he does surface at the airport he'd better duck! My carry on will be pretty dangerous upside his head.
White Sands, I will definitely look into that .. I know I'll want to get the 2nd hotel out of the way asap once I get there but I'm sure I'll be pretty distracted by the beach as soon as I arrive in Negril.. looking forward to grabbing a cold beverage and watching the sunset .. breathe!

Manda81 to be too upset with Andre until you hear his reason, he could be sick etc.
