Merrils

Update.....after arriving and accepted the fact of having to stay at merrils.....we are at. Foote prints.....WTF????? I give it one night.....much too far from familiarity....... I might as well be in mo bay... :(

Yeah that's not cool at all. I really dislike the practice of over booking and bumping people. To do it twice to one customer/reservation is bad. I feel like if you're going to do that, then you owe it to your customer to arrange an upgrade in the level of accommodation that was paid for. Not a drastic upgrade, but a nicer property in general.

Wow that is brutal. Putting fun holiday on my list of places to stay away from and if any of my friends ever tell me they are thinking about staying there I will tell them to stay away. Hope you have a wonderfull vacation and don't let this experience ruin it for you and keep you from returning some day.

We had to initially check on at FH ans all thé employées we know are asking us why we are leaving.....wasnt by choice.....they know we treat them well.

Positive note was its pretty close to chances ans had awesome pizza tonight.

We are back in Omaha now.....all in all, it wasn't such a bad experience having to change hotels TWICE.......we stayed a Foote Prints 3 nights and then were sent to Merrils II for 4 nights PLUS we had all-inclusive at Merrils without having to pay for it........and their food was excellent!!!......and free drinks.....SCORE...I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Foote Prints or Merrils.......

Glad it worked out! Sounds like quite the adventure, I too would not like to get bumped as I put a lot research into picking just the right spot and then planning things accordingly...... but Negril is Negril and you have to roll with the punches. As a friend of mine said a Jamaican vacation is very much one of tolerance. You have to tolerate certain things you wouldn't in the U.S. but you get and experience that you just cannot in the U.S.

i am sure merrills 2 is where you are being sent. i've stayed there a few times. i'd recommend upgrading to the oceanfront rooms if you can. there are only a few but way better than the "standard rooms". we loved merrills until we stayed at couples for our honeymoon now we are spoiled... good location on the beach and hard to complain about the food options. tony next door will sell you good souvenirs!

If it wasn't for the price of Merrils per night, I would make Merrils my first choice but it is kinda out of our price range plus I really don't need all inclusive because we enjoy eating at different places each day.
I need to take everyone's advice and just roll with it......what ever will be will be......besides we didn't spend as much time being 'beach bums' and more time visiting people that live and stay elsewhere. I really need to research more properties across the street that are less expensive (we used to stay at Jah B's) that way we could stay twice as long. 8 days were not long enough....
