Something else new I learned today! Thanks, Bnewb ..... uh - so what's "mountain" coffee, then? I see that, too.

Thunder is across the road from Alfred's. Walk down a bit past Sweet Spot and look for a pinkish house nestled on the morass. If you can't find him ask anyone around there. His coffee is High Blue Mountain and my friends LOVE it. I don't drink coffee but manage to bring back 8 pounds anyway - LOL

Last week, the dramatically increased price for Blue Mountain coffee was a constant topic of conversation. Everyone who is saying $20./lb., I assume your information is not recent. I don't drink coffee, but our friends who usually bring some home experienced sticker shock when they saw the $45. price tag in the airport.
I think you'll also find that the online sources cited in this thread have also increased their prices quite a bit.
The people who are buying for $20-25/lb are not buying Blue Mountain, it's High Mountain, even if the person selling it calls it "Blue Mountain". You can't buy Blue Mountain coffee for that price anywhere unless you're buying the beans green and in bulk, then roasting yourself.
One pound of JBM from these suppliers cost $40. The lower price is from buying in 10/20 lb bulk. Wallenford would never let these giant importers of their green beans falsely advertise and diminish their brand.
Suh top yuh nize bwai een don run yuh mout like chicken batty.
i was in Ja the first two weeks of feb. coffee prices in Lucea were high . i remember over 3700 for wallenford bmc.I bought an 8 oz. bag of high mountain for under 700 . still steep. Online price for a single pound of wallingfords BM is over 40.00 us. , but a purchase of 4 or more pounds can bring it down to less than 20.00 a pound delivered . fact
LOL Scottie
Yeah, I was only talking about the stuff people are buying in Jamaica. I wasn't referring to the bulk buy you posted, I had forgotten about that since the conversation shifted to Thunder. I can speak patois as well, thanks for that, man. A little over the top maybe?
