Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
Rob, you just can't help being high and mighty, doing your best to prove your members wrong.
Those articles take tons of liberties with actual facts about Japanese sushi. I am sure that yummly.com and Health.com are not the experts on what sushi is.
You could have said yes, it's a Jamaican interpretation. But instead, you double down and try to make me look wrong, stupid, whatever it is you're doing. Not the first time you've done it to me, and others.
You just seem to have this need to be 100% right about anything and everything Negril and Jamaica related and you have no problem spinning things to make it appear so. But I know.
Its just another reason that this forum gets fewer and fewer posts, and groups in places like Facebook have thriving communities with lots of back and forth, tens of thousands of active members... no wonder lately you've been sharing links on facebook back to this forum.

Harry - countering misinformation about Negril is one of the main purposes of Negril.com. Speculation and rumors could easily build up the number of posts here, but what would be the point if it isn't true?
I start a thread to celebrate the grand opening of a new restaurant that our visitors may find enticing and you are the one who, while never ever visiting the business, decided to slam it by making up a definition for sushi.
You stated that "The definition of sushi is vinegared rice with raw fish, or sometimes vegatables." This is simply not true. The Tokyo Creative website that I linked is based in Tokyo. Their main purpose is to provide a unique insight into all aspects of Japanese culture and daily life. And they define sushi as not requiring raw fish as does every other authority about the subject.
Matthew's serves real sushi, which is very, very good!
Unfortunately, I also have to correct your misinformation about Negril.com. Early next month we will have our half millionth visitor this year, far more than all the Negril groups on Facebook combined. As for my personal Facebook usage, other than maybe a couple dozen posts, everything I post IS a link to Negril.com.
Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
There is a difference between having to be right and having to get it right. When you conflate the two it's when frustration arises. Having lived in Japan for three years I feel I have a good understanding of what sushi and sashimi are as well as the diversity in Japan alone. Rob did a good job adding some clarity to the subject, and frankly food varies greatly, even within a country.
Wish nothing but great success to Matthew's. It is nice to see another option in Negril.
Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
I’m happy to have another option other than margaritaville to watch football in November.
Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
What are their regular prices during high season
Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
Their website is not finished yet, I will try to get a picture of the menus this week!

Rob, is that in JA or US? Either way prices aren't bad. Happy to see Fever Tree tonic water has made it's way to Negril! Love that stuff! I can't wait to check it out in November.
Re: The official Grand Opening of Matthew's!
I agree very reasonable prices. $6 margarita sounds great! We’ll try it out next week.

In J$.... a US$800 Margarita would be a bit over the top...
