I usually try to do a month before we go.
We also start tanning a moth before we go.
I always do it to get a good base and it also serves a purpose....The hagglers on the beach will press you more because they see how white your skin is so they know you are New....A guy once approached us and said "you just got here" we said "how did you know" he said it was the really white skin...

I always do, from 150 to 200 minutes worth. This way you don't have to worry about accidentally catching too much sun the first few days, which is very easy to do when you stand in the sea with drink in hand watching the action on the beach!
Yes twice a week 10 min for a month before we go. If we want to take a boat trip or do something in the afternoon sun I don't want to worry about burning. Husband is a landscaper so he still has a bit of a tan left when we go.
